Has anyone received an email from USC yet about the freshman year abroad options for Trojan Transfer Plan?
Nope. Didn’t get any emails about abroad options.
bump. anyone?
@jazzshreddermom , have you received an email about this yet? Have you heard of anyone else who has? (I don’t have a horse in this race – yet – but S3 will apply to USC next year, and studying in Paris seems like such a great opportunity if he’s offered spring admission or isn’t accepted. I’m hoping USC hasn’t decided to discontinue the program; posters on the Facebook page are noting that this was a life-changing opportunity.)
Nope, not a peep. Although we’ve heard emails are “coming,” nothing has (nor to anyone else who got the TTP paragraph that we know). USC is seemingly way behind where they were at this time last year regarding Europe TTP options/emails. The program isn’t discontinued, in fact they’re apparently adding Rome, Switzerland and London. But again, my son has heard nothing. It’s disheartening and hard not to move on emotionally, especially when he has other great options (some that were more selective than USC, so go figure).
Forgot to add - I noted that the language regarding likelihood of admission to USC from AUP on its website (and the other Europe TTP websites that are up - London still isn’t at this time) recently changed a bit from what it said a few weeks ago. There is slightly more “caveat” to the tone. I also wonder if USC will be as as involved as with future groups who do TTP abroad (USC officials visiting, contact with admissions reps regarding coursework) as they were with this year’s Paris class, particularly if they are in four countries. Call me nervous.
It’s so late in the month to still await an invitation – especially since the school has been through the process once, already. Thank you for the info (I hadn’t heard about the other countries), and I hope you hear something soon, @jazzshreddermom !
I think they’re just busy with other things (transfer admissions?) and perhaps waiting for the last website (London) to go up?), too busy to send out emails. Technically any TTP-offered student can investigate and sign up, but getting an email from USC would’ve been nice.
I received the study abroad option last night and can choose between London, Rome, Switzerland, and Paris. The info given was very broad. Does anyone know any further information on this?
@spldnlvr , the TTP is brand-spanking new for London, Rome, and Switzerland, but you should join the Facebook page for the parents whose students are just finishing their first year in Paris, and ask your questions of these knowledgeable folk (and I’m sure a few CC folk, such as @GamerGal27 can be of help.) In Facebook, search for “USC Parents of AUP Trojans” – it’s a closed group, so you’ll need to request permission to join. Sounds like you have great options – congratulations!
I am glad to see more options as housing was an absolute nightmare in Paris with 220 USC Sping admits or TTP students. With students spread out over four countries this should really make Paris more tenable. AUP is a strong choice for taking GEs. But for STEM related majors- not so much.
If my son had more options he probably would have chosen London due to the language. He didn’t know a lick of French so that was a real issue. Also, the culture is so different and not in a good way (for him at least. Others loved it there).
You also need to think about the travel cost and factor in coming back to the U.S. for winter break.
I just wonder if USC will be as involved/connected with four countries as they seemed to have been with Paris in its inaugural year. Also, the London website doesn’t even mention USC. Another potential concern is that USC has changed its GE requirements/courses. The abroad websites refer to the old ones. Will there be snags in what transfers this first time with the new GE program? Just makes me so nervous. If anyone gets any answers on these questions, please let us know!
There’s like no info about this anywhere…I would love to go to the London one, but as jazzshreddermom mentioned, there’s very little info. And are we supposed to deposit here (if we choose) by May 1st? I think the website says May 15th though? This whole process has me confused.
deleted.
I’m really interested in the program in london too but there’s is so little information i’m hesitant about it. also the emails were sent so late that this option is pretty new to me so i don’t have that much time to email counselors and ask questions and stuff so i don’t know…
also im confused about the cost? how much is tuition and room and board? and how much is tuition by itself? i have family members in london only 20 minutes away from campus so I could live with them and save some more money
It says tuition is 36K for the whole year and the room and board are around 4700 lbs ( have to convert, but it’s mentioned right below) per semester, I forget the exact number. Still cheaper than USC, but yes, there is little info about USC on the London site.
The Facebook page name has changed to USC TTP Parents of Students Abroad. Lots of rave reviews!
Is there any way to meet people who are doing the Trojan Transfer Plan? Or a way to talk to someone has gone through the process?
My daughter is considering the TTP (both AUP or London location) and would love to connect with anyone attending this coming fall. Also, are there others who are/have attending to give any housing, academic do/don’ts for Paris?
