Let's get to know each other while we wait for results! :) I'm a female from SoCal, applied as a Screenwriting major, and am an aspiring screenwriter/TV show runner/film director. How about you guys?

I’m a guy from Kentucky (forever far away) going for Viterbi, some sort of Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Really hopeful!

Nice! Is USC your first choice?

I’m a girl from Los Angeles, and applied to Annenberg as a Communication major. I hope to snag a job in the entertainment or advertising industry after college. I’ve seen you around a lot, Eiffel. Secretly my dream job is to be a screenwriter, but… I know I don’t have the skills. Good luck! I’m dying to get in myself. :)

I’m a guy from England, also anxiousley awaiting the results.

I’m applying to Music Industry in Thornton and hopefully I’ll end up somewhere in the music business in LA after graduation (maybe after law school as well).

Good luck everybody!

marmar16: I think we’re the same person. Haha.
Well, no, you’re probably more qualified than I am. And I’m not in Los Angeles.

I’m still trying to decide if I should put down a major or apply undeclared.
It might be a bad thing that I’m moving so slowly, but I’m trying to get this app perfect. As close as I possibly can, anyway.

And yes, best of luck to everyone!

Marmar, you should have applied as a Screenwriting major just to see if you would get in…you never know! And then you could have put Communication as your second choice. I put English as my second choice, but the more I think about it, Communication would probably be my second choice at USC.

Trumpet, are you applying to CAS? If so, I don’t think it matters what major you put down.

hmm…I was thinking I’d major in Communications most recently. There was a brief point where I thought English was the only option for me (so I interviewed with a rep from CLAS as undeclared/English), but I did some research.

Earlier I wanted to do screenwriting (right after the college rep visit to my school), but my counselor kind of shot that down since I have no actual background. She did have her facts wrong, though. She tends to do that sometimes. =/

So recently I’m thinking major in Communications, minor in screenwriting because my whole life I’ve been fascinated with the making of movies and being part of that process.
Or I might be a misguided teenager. Either way.

Misguided teenager?? No way! I think you have a good plan. Don’t let people tell you that wanting to work in sho-biz is just a lofty and impossible dream; if you have the drive and the talent, you’ll make it. :)

trumpetcolor, that’s so weird! We are the same person. For my entire life I have been infatuated with movies and television, and would love to be a part of it somehow even if it’s not directly producing or writing. I’m sure you’re a great candidate, and there’s no in-state bias since USC is private. The school’s great because even if you don’t get into your first-choice, they can still accept you for your second or as undeclared. My second choice major is actually Sociology since I’m lazy and didn’t want to write an additional essay. In LA, nothing is far-fetched when it comes to working in showbiz. So you’re not at all misguided.

Eiffel, I saw your stats on your other 2014 thread a few days ago. You’re sooo going to get in. I’m really jealous! I will live vicariously through you. Out of curiosity, where else did you apply?

Aww, you really think so?? Wow, thank you so much! I sure hope you’re right. But when it comes to the Screenwriting major, it’s harder to get in than Harvard! (It only accepts 3% of applicants…) So that’s pretty scary. I do think I have more screenwriting experience than most people though, and I definitely have more passion for it, so I hope both shine through on my application. Of course, I think I’m good at it as well, but we’ll see what they think. XD

I also applied to Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Northwestern, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Davis (already accepted), and Loyola Marymount. How about you? :)

If you don’t get accepted, I don’t know who would. You’ll get in there somehow, whether it’s through your top-choice major or not. What kind of screenplays do you write?

I applied to all of those except for Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and LMU. I love Davis too, for more of a safety. I got the ELC letter so I think I’m already in. Northwestern is awesome, but it’s hard to get in. I’m also applying to Cornell, Boston U, and Pepperdine.

Thanks, guys. :)

I’m just frustrated because my stats are…not very good (by both USC and CC standards…and mine once I found my unweighted GPA) so I have a really slim chance of getting in. This is my top school, too. I’m really confused about colleges at the moment, but I’m determined to transfer if I don’t get in the first time around.
Not to think so negative. I’m just trying to plan ahead practically.

As for other colleges…the only one I really like is University of Washington. My safeties are, well, really safe. Like I feel I can do better, but there isn’t anywhere better I really want to go. There are a lot of small colleges on the west coast, but I don’t want a small college. And I want the west coast. I want to be able to go home for the long breaks. Haha.
I was thinking of going over to the college search forum and asking about that sometime. And I always told myself I’d get all this done early…

hey everyone =)

I’m a girl from Washington state and applied to Marshall School of Business. USC is my top choice and i’m hecka nervous =(

and trumpetcolor , UW is my second top school!

“If you don’t get accepted, I don’t know who would. You’ll get in there somehow, whether it’s through your top-choice major or not. What kind of screenplays do you write?”

Aw, thank you so much! What kind of screenplays I write…well, my main scripts are for a TV show my brother and I created together and have been writing for the past 6 years. It’s a teenage dramedy mixed with crime/film noir/mystery. I’ve also written a couple short films, one in-progress feature length film, and two plays. Most of them are dramedies; it’s by far by favorite genre. Have you ever written a screenplay?

“I applied to all of those except for Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and LMU. I love Davis too, for more of a safety. I got the ELC letter so I think I’m already in. Northwestern is awesome, but it’s hard to get in. I’m also applying to Cornell, Boston U, and Pepperdine.”

high-fives ELC is the reason I’m in at Davis too. I really really love the school. It’s wonderful to have such an awesome safety. Do you have a first choice school?

trumpetcolor, if USC’s your dream then there’s always the option of transferring from a different 4-year university. Your diploma will always say USC.

Eiffel, that sounds great… how did you get experience with this? Do you have a film program at your school? No, I’ve never written a screenplay… well, seriously. Honestly, I have no experience at all with anything even related to that, that’s why anything involving Screenwriting or Production is a secret dream, haha. A job behind-the-scenes in publicity for movies/television would be enough for me. And yay for us!!! I really do love Davis too, have you visited? The campus is really pretty, and it sounds really good but… nothing compares to USC. My first choice school is most definitely USC. Everything’s riding on my acceptance! If I were to get into everywhere, Northwestern, Cornell, UCLA, and UCB would be tossed out without a second thought. USC is your first choice, right?

Hey guys! I’m a female from the Jersey shore (and no, its not like the tv show at all, haha) and I would love to get into USC. When I visited last spring, I knew it would be perfect for me. Love at first sight, if you will. So I applied to Annenberg as a Broadcast Journalism major, and if I get in, I will definitely want to take some screenwriting and business classes. I love California, and all I can say is, I wish USC had early decision!

“Eiffel, that sounds great… how did you get experience with this? Do you have a film program at your school?”

Thank you! No, no film program at school. I’ve just always loved writing, and it’s always been my passion. When I was really little, I wrote stories and poetry, and then when I was 8, I don’t know…I just decided one day that I would try my hand at writing a TV show. So I started researching screenwriting and began to learn it. Then when I was 12, my brother and I created the show that we’re still writing today. :)

“No, I’ve never written a screenplay… well, seriously.
You should definitely do the screenwriting minor, though! You could find out you’re a natural at it and end up being a professional screenwriter. But a behind-the-scenes job would be pretty interesting too. Have you looked into Chapman U? It has a lot of different programs for the film industry, including Creative Producing and Public Relations & Advertising (which both sound up your alley!)

“And yay for us!!! I really do love Davis too, have you visited?”

No, I haven’t had the chance to visit yet, but I’ll be visiting this spring. I’ve seen pictures of the campus, though, and it looks so beautiful.

“The campus is really pretty, and it sounds really good but… nothing compares to USC. My first choice school is most definitely USC. Everything’s riding on my acceptance!
I don’t really want to have a first choice school. I just want to see where I get in first, and then really decide. There are so many things about all the schools I applied to that I love (except UCB…I almost definitely wouldn’t go there).

Leslie, welcome to the thread! Are you thinking about being a screenwriting or business minor?

Actually, my name’s Lauren. I’m on my mom’s username. And I would love to have a business minor. The Marshall school has a great reputation to say the least.

Ah, okay! Sorry, Lauren. My mom’s name is Leslie too! high-fives
