I read a 2006 thread, a lot students got $54000 Trustee distinguished scholarship plus 2 yr Century Scholarship. But I read Rice web site, the maximum for the Trustee Distingush is $20800, did the school cut the scholarship amount? Any one get as high as $54000 this year?

I got a little over 20800 for the Trustee scholarship.

I think this years ceiling is increased to ~$22500. But any one know why the ceiling is lowered so much compare to yr 2006 of $54000?

Back in 2008, the Trustee Distinguished was 20K per year – and it’s since been adjusted to Iceberg’s $20,800 scholarship. The $54,000 number just doesn’t make sense –

Congrats to Iceberg and everyone else who landed Trustee Distinguished merit aid – any type of merit aid! I hope you all make the time to give back to Rice – to make it shine in your own way!

I think it was 54,000 over 4 years… tuition was lower back then, so $13,500 a year went quite a ways towards paying for Rice.

Oh! I thought Peonytour meant $54K a year! That would be really generous – especially back then! Now, too … really generous!

I re-read the 2006 thread, the $54000 is over 4yrs. If the tuition was $13500 back then, they could at lease cover all the tuition. But this year full trustee $22500 combined with Century $4000 can not even cover the current tuition of $34000. Any one know if the century scholarship will be $4000 only or there will be additional stipen paid?

Any way I am still appreciate the scholarships, at least they could reduce half of the total cost.

The Century Scholarship includes an additional stipend of $700 or so a year for the two years, but it’s likely that most or part of that amount will be used up on expenses for the internship. That’s what it’s really for.
