Do you think they will have a waiting list for the scholarship? I mean, most of the kids getting the scholarship will also get into really prestigious schools, and probably get scholarships elsewhere too, so I'm sure that not all of them will accept it.

By the way, has anyone heard anything about the other scholarships you had to apply for, like the MLK, the engineering exam, or the Greek/Latin exams?

S is waiting to hear results of Latin scholarship exam, and he was accepted ED. The classics department told me several weeks ago that the winners had been chosen but notification would be sent with the RD results. So I don't know what this means for him. Maybe this information will come with his housing/orientation. He thinks it unlikely that he won a Latin scholarship.

I think internationals don't get notification in regular mail. If your post office is slow then it is quite possible that someone in India could get the mail faster.

Well, just got today's mail (I'm taking a "mental health day" from school), and nothing from BU. I've accepted now that I'm most likely not getting the Trustee, it's just bothering me a little bit because I put a ton of effort into my essay, I really thought it was excellent. I hope I atleast get the 1/2 tuition.

dude kiki don't lose hope my mom phoned the admissions office today and they said that they are starting to send out a few of the trustee scholarship letters out right now, and they will be continuing to send them throughout the next weeks.

Last year we got the acceptance to BU and invitation to the Honors program but no mention of the scholarship. I finally called and they said it does not always come with the acceptance letter. They said it would come in a week and it finally did about 10 days later. Its a big school so these mailing can be random. I had a suspicion that since my S was accepted at more competetive schools that maybe they thought he wasn't interested so by calling this may have prom[pted the letter by showing his committment to move forward. Just a guess.

Again...if you think you would qualify based on your stats and have not yet heard...explain that yopu need to start making travel arrangemenst for attending the "accepted student" days that are in mid-April and that you need to know soon to plan your travel. Which is true.
When we called and explained this and mentioned our S really wanted to go to BU, had been accepted at Tufts, etc ---so explained truthfully that the merit money would tip the scales--they didn't actually say he was "in" but hinted that we would get a letter within two weeks...after a week of tortured waiting I called again and they sent us the letter right away. I wasn't comfortable calling at first so sent an email but when I called a few days later it was obvious they had noted the email. This is another example of letting them know your intention--very useful since from the schools perspective they probably want to minimize the offers they make that the student does not accept. So call.....you have nothing to lose.
