Trustee Scholarship Criteria

I apologize if this has been addressed before, but I couldn’t find a definitive answer when I searched.

What exactly does it take to become a trustee scholar? The BU website refers vaguely to “outstanding academic and leadership abilities”. My GPA and SAT scores are in range, but I’m definitely not in the top 1% of my class, and my ECs aren’t spectacular (various school clubs with a few minor officer positions).

This should give you the answers:

Thanks. I'd actually seen that, but I was hoping for more anecdotal evidence of what it takes to get the award. From looking at threads from last spring, I got an idea of the stats of people who applied, but I'm still not sure how important personal qualities (like being an olympic gymnast or raising $100,000 for charity) are. Basically, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth my time to write another essay. :)

Only know of one new BU Freshman from our HS that just went to BU. He is in the Univ. Professors program but I heard got a full academic scholarship. He is brilliant and an extraordinary musician among other things with a 2400 SAt and GPA through the roof. The averages on that web site are high. Still, you never know so you should apply. Smaller programs like that want a "well rounded" group sometimes more than a well rounded student so you could luck out if they have too many artsy types one year and you are a jock or too many leaders and you are more reserved.

This is the kind of question where a call to that program at BU would really help. My guess is your stats are extremely important so if you have that, which is impressive, you have a good shot so write the essay.Good luck.
