if i were anywhere near Massachusetts, i would. absolutely.

I see. Oakland. Sigh. So take that poster and mail it to your local alumnae rep. And send one to the Prez Christ, and everyone else you can think of.

What have you got to lose? (and if it works, you'll have a good story!)

I agree with Mini. Send one to your local rep and to Pres. Christ.

An alternative (and this would be cool) would be to HIRE a current Smithie to wear a sandwich board for you, and have her picket in front of the admissions office, wearing your picture (and handing out flyers with the ten reasons.) Maybe only an hour or two a day. (Do that, while high school seniors are coming for interviews, tours, etc., and the admissions office might hire you!)

"Send one to Pres. Christ."

That pretty much should guarantee a rejection. Deb and her staff don’t appreciate the Pres. interfering with their job

The rejection has already happened - there's no risk attached. But it is good to choose a wise strategy.

"The rejection has already happened"

Not necessarily, she was waitlisted, not rejected. No matter how little, there's still hope--and there is next fall.

haha that is really funny, hiring someone to picket for my admission? that would definately be unique. but i think after sending in 3 recs, a special talent form, 3 pieces of art, my personal zine, a killer essay, a personal letter, a poster, and 2 phone calls, i think it's time to call it quits and keep my fingers crossed and continue to hope.

rlt, do you really think it would be a really terrible idea to send one to the prez?

George or Carol? Cuz Deb and the girls just really hate it when George butts in. ;-)

Are you going to apply for the Fall if you don't get in now? I would think there will be many more transfer openings then. Hope to see you there!

Good Luck!

BTW, S&P has a funny story about GW and Smith -- I find it pretty amunsing anyway. Maybe she will tell it sometime.

i'm not sure if i will re apply for fall. right now i'm just really bummed out that i probably wont be going in the spring and i am just a bit tired of the situation, pherhaps when i get over it i'll reconsider. maybe apply to mhc too.

eh, if only the ac could see how awesome i am...

I agree with RLT - no President Christ.

Because you were waitlisted for the spring, you should definitely apply for the fall. Is it too late? As Laurel points out, there are usually more transfer openings in the fall.

"haha that is really funny, hiring someone to picket for my admission? that would definately be unique."

It is funny, but I was perfectly serious.

I wonder if you tell them that you are young to reapply if they will keep all of your records on file, that would be ideal.

Well just to update everyone, I talked to my Mom last night and she said that a card from Smith arrive yesterday. Apparently it was a handwritten note that was along the lines of "Your poster was really impressive and creative...I'm sorry that the waitlist didn't work out...I feel confident that with your persistance and talent you will suceed in life". The last part kind of made me sad, sort of "have a nice life"ish to me, and it would have been nice to see "I encourage you to reapply for Fall." I guess we can't always get what we want.

I would still reapply for the fall.

Mer, I agree with MWFN...re-apply in the Fall. You need to be self-propelled enough to take action without encouragement. The fact that you were waitlisted says you were "close." You'll have essentially another year's worth of progress to improve your record. Go for it.

So I'm reapplying today, I realize I have to rewrite my essay, but is it also a good idea to rewrite the short answer(which was pretty good)?
