Hi.
I’m trying to decide which university to attend. I’m not 100% decided on my major.
I’ve been accepted to SDSU as a business administration major and to UC Davis as an undeclared major.
I am more drawn to the atmosphere at SDSU but am concerned about declaring the business major. How well does UCD help undecided students explore and choose a major? How is the advising and counseling? Are students able to get the classes they need/want? How hard is it to graduate in 4 years? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
You can take intro classes until you find something you enjoy. You can go to advising. There’s seminars with a broad amount of topics. It’s not hard to explore majors if you try at UCD.
Advising is solid. You can have peer advising or meeting with advisors. Advisors are available via appointment making online. It’s not hard to get a meet with an advisor.
Students have to get classes they need/want eventually. Sometimes you may not get the correct class you want the exact quarter you want, but you will get it within a few quarters. This wouldn’t set you back because you’ll be taking other classes that you would’ve needed to take either way. Graduating in 4 years is doable if you try. Some people struggle to take 15 units, so they might take a little less. Some people do more and graduate in 3 years. There’s also 3 years plan for certain majors.
