<p>I'm currently a sophomore in high school and my plan is to get into McCombs Business School, however, I did poorly my freshman year and that has damaged my high school class rank (I come from a very competitive school) to the point where top 8%-10% is unachievable. My plan is to go to UT San Antonio and try to transfer into McCombs (a very high GPA is needed) but the chances of getting in are around 15%-20%. But I have seen that the students who are already at UT Austin transfer into McCombs with a greater chance of admission (60%-70%). Should I transfer from UT San Antonio and try to get to McCombs or should I get to Austin from UTSA with a different major (i.e. Communications) and then transfer into business?</p>

<p>Damn, that’s a good question cause I’m going through the same thing, but I go to St. Philips. My plan is to transfer into LAC because I’m going to double in economics anways and then after a semester go for McCombs.</p>
<p>doesnt matter if you go to UTSA, take CAl 1,Cal 2, Micro and Macro and get like a 3.7-8ish and you will get in from any school.</p>

<p>you can get into UT-Mccombs as a transfer, you just need to have those 4 classes complete. Going to a community college may be the best thing for you. Your only a sophomore when senior year rolls around, you may want to go to another school.</p>
<p>What Pierr said, but I’d try to get a 3.9-4.0 along with a lot of volunteering around your community. Get involved in a foundation or organization.</p>
<p>I got rejected by McCombs and accepted into Econ at UT for this fall and I’ll tell you the truth, it is best to transfer internally. They even have it on the McComb website about the admission rates for internal and external admissions. Go your freshmen year for whatever major and take Econ 1 and 2. Enroll at ACC for Cal 1 and Cal 2 and your golden.</p>
<p>^ Undergraduate courses at UT are more expensive and many are weed out classes that are more difficult than they should be. Internally seems like the bigger risk imo, but its doable.</p>

<p>I just realized today I’m pretty much f’ed when it comes to McCombs. I’ll be transferring in the spring with about 66 transferable credits. The problem there is that McCombs only accepts transfer students for the fall semester and only accepts students with 24 hours in residence, so I likely wouldn’t be able to transfer until fall 2012, and by then I expect to have around 111 credits. So not gonna happen. I suppose I could try to take 18-21 credits in the spring and 6 credits in the summer, that would still put me at 90 hours, which is on the very high end of the scale. </p>
<p>I’m trying to decide what’s more valuable. A computer information systems degree from TSU in San Marcos or an economics/math degree from UT…</p>
<p>After a moment of though I suppose a degree with heavy emphasis on economics/math/computer science and a business minor could be just as valuable as an MIS from McCombs, although the only thing that would suck would be missing out on the busines school recruiting. I could get a technical/analytical/math degree and then go for an MBA later. Any thoughts from anyone?</p>
<p>If you were to take 18-21 credits in the spring, it would be tough to get a high enough GPA to get in. Plus, I don’t believe that that will look at summer classes. I think their decisions are made in June. I would call and talk to an adviser. You may be better of stay at Texas State and then going to McCombs for graduate school.</p>
<p>Thanks longhornDan. I’ve been thinking if I can get into UT that a computer science undergraduate with the business foundations program followed by an MBA in information management will get me where I want to go. My mind seems to change by the week though so we’ll see. Thanks again.</p>
<p>Hi I wanted to know what my chances were at transferrring into Mccombs school of business. I’m a finance major and have a 3.75 gpa in my first semester at the Texas Tech but I only took 12 hours(I had to drop a class because I had a C-). I’m in 5 school organizations holding some leadership roles in some and have over 100 hours of community service. I’m taking 19 hours next semester to make up for the 12 hours I took this semester. I have a 27 ACT and 3.5 gpa in high school.</p>
