I'm a transfer student transferring out of Houston Community College to a 4 year university this Spring. Out of all my applications, I've only gotten into UofH, but I wanna go to UT. However, UT doesnt make any decisions until November 1st, apparently. UofH wants me to take a transfer student conference and keeps sending me emails on signing up ASAP. Should I wait this out, and see whether UT accepts me, or should I sign up for the $60 conference? Would attending it mean I'm already a student? Reason I'm asking is because all the conferences are filling up and now theres only december conference dates left and I dont wanna end up staying at HCC another semester.

I would ask this question to your current adviser at HCC or your transfer counselor at U of H, who I think might be Tiffney Humbert Transfer Admissions Counselor thumbert@uh.edu. You can verify who your U of H transfer counselor is here: <a href=“Visit - University of Houston”>http://www.uh.edu/admissions/connect/locate-counselor-tr/index.php Good Luck.

They’ll still help me if I tell them I wanna hold off signing up for a conference at their university because I want to go to a university in a different city? lol

@bettercallsal, It has been my experience that colleges understand you may have applied to and/or might be considering other schools. I have found that the honest and open approach has worked for my family, and we have never experienced any negative repercussions when dealing with schools. If you are uncomfortable asking U of H the question, then speak with your current HCC counselor. I am sure he/she has had other students in similar situations.

I see, I’ve never applied to 4 year colleges before so I genuinely had no clue that you could do that.Thank you!
