trying to transfer to uga as sophomore!!

hello!
I am desperately trying to transfer to UGA for the fall of my sophomore year. I am currently attending Georgia College and State University (GCSU) and I am planning to complete my time here by end of freshman year. Some of the things I am seeing on the website is that I cannot just transfer in for fall 2010 (which is ridiculous) because i have to have COMPLETED 30 hours... but i will have 30 hrs in progress in spring of this year (13 transfer hours this semester and 17 spring semester)... i just dont know what to do to get through this because i know its possible i have at least 3 acquaintances that transferred to uga after their freshman year and I have heard that there is some sort of loop hole? PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP!! Getting in spring semester of my sophomore year just won't work...
Thank you!!

Relax- I don’t think its a loop-hole. 30 credit hours is how many credits required minimum for sophomore standing (which counts both your first and second semester).

I have the same problem! i am currently a freshman at georgia state university and all i am hearing is that there is no way i can get into uga before a year and a half because of the stupid deadline that basically teases you and doesnt let you in because your credits wont be completed for another month or so at the time of the april transfer deadline. why they do this i have no idea. but i attended a meeting last week at UGA and they said a couple weeks ago for some reason if you applied with a forestry major you could get in after only a year, but they figured out that students were just doing that and then immediately changing their major once they got there, so they made the deadline like any other deadline so students could no longer do that. but there has to be another way. i need to go to athens, i simply cannot wait an extra six months when i already have my freaking credits and gpa that are required! please help, i need a loophole to get in for fall 2010! :(

You could set up an appointment in Athens with someone from the admissions office.

Why not call or e-mail the Admissions Office and ask them directly?

but the thing is i have been there for meetings, talked to people in admissions, the works. i just need a loophole if anybody knows of one like perhaps a major i could apply for in which the deadline is a later date, or anything anybody who either has knowledge about the universitys policy or has personal experience with this knows because i know its possible, people have gotten in after their first year before, and i have to do that. i am desperate to go there and i simply cannot wait another half year. somebody please helpppp

i just need like a major or program they offer that has a later deadline than april so i can get in and then just change my major when im there…please help if u know of anything

I don’t know for certain, but I’m guessing if the University’s absolute transfer deadline is April 1, that colleges or majors within the University wouldn’t have later deadlines, they would be earlier if anything. I suppose you could search the college or departmental websites of every major offered at UGA and verify the admissions deadlines for yourself.

yea ive done that, the only one they had was forestry, which was a june deadline, which would be perfect, but they cancelled that for the reason that students were doing exactly what im trying to do now lol. they do have june deadlines for pharmacy and law but i dont thnk those schools are for undergraduates - also i called them and they said there isnt anything, so it looks like i might be out of luck. this sucks lol i really wanna go there without having to be miserable for another 6 months. thanks a lot for trying to help though i apprecate it

If you are trying to avoid going to the Georgia State campus for another semester, could you stay at home and take online classes from UGA or another college? If you take classes from an accredited college, they should easily transfer to UGA as long as they meet the requirements for your degree/major. A lot of accredited schools have a simplified admissions process if all you’re taking is online classes and aren’t working toward a degree with them.

its not that im trying to avoid State by any means, i just wanna be in athens soooo bad. but it looks like im just gonna have to wait, im thinking about getting my credits here and then going to southern for 6 months to be with some friends instead of being miserable here, then transfering. thanks a lot for your help but its lookin like they tied up any and all loose ends for me to slip through lol

i feel ya exactly mamasboi i gotta get up there… badly im tryin to cheer there and the only way i can is if i actually go there in the fall… i was told college of agriculture or college of forestry cuz some of my friends did this not too long ago but we’ll see im still soo confused!

Have you emailed your admissions counselor?
