Tufts Class of 2022 ED I Applicants Discussion

It’s a little early for this, but it would be great if us potential ED applicants could start discussing!

I’m incredibly torn between shooting ED towards Tufts or UPenn. I absolutely cannot decide.

@csurf357 I would recommend applying to Tufts ED (yeah, I know I may not be the most impartial person, but still). One of my friends applied ED to Penn, got deferred, and then applied EDII to Tufts and got in. He says getting deferred was the best thing to happen to him since he fell in love with Tufts shortly after his deferral. Another one of my friends decided to attend Tufts after being accepted to both and says it was the best decision she’s ever made. And, in my opinion, Tufts students are ten-fold better than Penn students in terms of their diversity, personalities, eccentricities and their overall eagerness to learn and collaborate. This is most likely due to Tufts’ awesome supplemental essays–since Tufts relies heavily on its essays to decide whether to admit an applicant after they have passed the numbers threshold, they are able to bring in a class with amazing people from all walks of life.

I’ve heard from everyone that Tufts’ student body is 10/10. My friend who goes to Harvard tells me she goes to Tufts parties because the people there are so great to talk to and are simply amazing. I have not heard the same of Penn students. Also, Tufts is speeding past other universities in terms of reputation. It won’t be long until its acceptance rate drops to single digits; the average accepted ACT score rose two points this year to 33; students there are as capable as their neighbors over at Harvard and MIT (and I say this honestly as I chose Tufts over Harvard).

My vote is for Tufts, as biased as it may be. If you have any questions as to why I decided to attend, feel free to ask!!

tufts released their supplemental essay q’s btw!

Hi!!! I just submitted my ED application yesterday so nervous but excited!

In case you haven’t decided yet, I attended both schools (albeit a very long time ago) and I think Tufts is a much more congenial place for an undergraduate. Penn, apart from being much bigger, has historically been noted more for its graduate and professional programs. Moreover, the Penn campus is (or at least was) laid out on a one dimensional axis which gives it a rather monotonous character. Tufts’ campus is much more pleasant and visually stimulating. Finally, I suspect Tufts has a much higher percentage of students who enrolled because they wanted to go there, whereas Penn probably includes a lot more people who were simply trying to get into any Ivy League college that would take them. Even in the old days Tufts was sensitive about its image at the time as a “safety school” and tried to weed out applicants for whom it was just an afterthought.

Im doing awful!

anyways do you know exactly when the results are you? Do they send us email saying when we will receive it?

I believe you get a notification email when your status page is updated, not sure though

Welcome! I’m creating this discussion in lieu of the approaching December 15th deadline. To any and all fellow Tufts ED1 applicants–it’d be great to get to know you! There’s no better way to ease the stress of waiting than nonchalant discussion, so let’s start a thread! How’s everyone doing?

Has anyone called admissions asking when decisions will be out?? so nervous!!!

no one knows for sure but i heard that in the past few years theyve always released decisions on a thursday or a monday which makes me think that itll come on dec 14

hi please someone please call the admission office :frowning: Im not in the US so i cant call

Last year I know it was Dec 15th at 3:00

I feel there is no point in psyching out over release date because nothing matters but the golden decision on the status. Patience is healthy.

Say on Tufts site - ED1 decisions Friday 12/15 afternoon. Long week ahead! http://admissions.tufts.edu/

@P255 nice find!

I thought I heard it was Friday but could be mistaken. I’m an ED applicant from NYC so I don’t know for sure but think that’s the date.
