Hey tufts is really misplaced in the forum. I think it should be in the top uni list. Can we somehow get the message across to the moderators? Yaaa VOTE FOR TUFTS!!!

I think they should just get rid of the top universities list, because it's like another US News Rankings thing.

I agree. People dwell too much on lists and rankings.

it should be though. it'd be easier to get here

Tufts deserves to make that list if they sent me an acceptance letter, but since they didn't they can stay on the Alphabetic list of colleges, lol.

I agree with you reggie - as one of the best (and most selective) universities in the US, Tufts should easily be on the list. I think the list is merely compiled based upon the traffic levels that a college on CC receives (i.e. post #'s), in which case we're in the 700's range while some schools (think GU, for example) are over 1,000. Of course it's missplaced, in the same sense that the media-pandering USNews puts Tufts slightly below schools that quite obviously in the real world are no where near the same calibre (even if Tufts is, overall, ranked quite high - but that isn't the point). I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you can contact the moderators about it - great, i'll add my vote in for support. Remember that Tufts is highly regarded by the business, medical, law, and international communities as being near-Ivy in selectivity and of premier quality in the US. Take a look @ the stats for the class of 2010. Anyway, see if you can get in touch with a moderator.

i don't understand why this is so important to you people. it's a online message board. not even a very good one at that. Do you come here to talk about tufts or to feel proud of yourself for being on a list that is not only contrived, but completely irrelevant and virtually unseen?
sheesh. shut up and use the message board for what it's for. why does it matter what category you find it under?

i think its only the top 20 or 25 schools or something like that (it uses the actual ranking list)

tufts is 27 and is not there, the only way would be to expand it to 30

no... its the top 25 schools not including the ivies... which have their own separate section... that means that it should include #1- 33 not including the ivies... which should include tufts

Of all the schools my son visited last summer, Tufts was the only one to send personalized follow up letters on a regular basis. They provided the most helpful info after he applied regular decision. I have been told by a dean of a law school (who is a friend of mine) that the education a student receives at Tufts is better than Middlebury. Lucky for us he was accepted and will be attending Tufts in the fall.

I agree Tufts does not get the respect (or ranking) that it deserves. With all the major $ gifts the school has received recently that may be changing.

Whether or not a school is included in CC's Top Unis can't soley be based on the number of posts. Schools that have a huge student body will most likely have more traffic simply because there are a lot more students considering the school. Check out the thousands of threads for NYU (but still not included in CC's Top list). I also think if Tufts was included in CC's Top Unis, there would be a lot more traffic because the school would be more visible and H.S. Seniors/Juniors throughout the US would more likely click on Tufts. Tufts isn't as well known by H.S. students outside the northeast, but would be if listed in CC's Top Uni List. It would be interesting to check out the number of threads a school has before and after a school gets added to one of CC's Top Uni or LAC lists.
And if it is based soley on the US News ranking, isn't UNC essentially equal to Tufts (but UNC is included).
With the tremendous growth of CC, I also think CC's Top Lists have or could have in the near future a serious impact on the interest in a school and possibly the number of applicants to the school. Over time, the CC Lists will simply be another list(like US News) that people may refer to. I can hear the H.S. Senior saying to his friend, "Why did you apply there, the school isn't even listed as one of CC's Top Unis.?"
I am also surprised that the school which is considered by many (justified or not) as the school where people apply to as their backup to the Ivys (i.e.,"Ivy Safety") is not listed in CC's Top Unis. How can a school considered (whether right or wrong) on par or a tick below the Ivys not be considered one of the Top Unis? When many students who apply to an Ivy also apply to Tufts. And especially when students have been rejected from Tufts and accepted to an Ivy (e.g., Cornell).
If CC is going to continue to have these Top Lists, Tufts unquestionably should be included.

Very well said, and I agree completely. I believe that the CC moderators merely copy the list from USNews, and decided to pick UNC over Tufts. This, in turn, further discredits the already highly controversial USNews ranking system as in the academic community Tufts is largely regarded to be a much better University than UNC. I you look at other reviews of the school, it's easy to see that Tufts is always placed with the Ivies and the top LAC's in academic selectivity, quality, and reputation (even if it's not as well known with every HS student).

Yes, I agree that Tufts deserves to be on the list and that picking UNC over Tufts is absurd (not to denigrate UNC: it's an excellent school). However you will find people on this board who will militantly insist that a degree from Tufts has no value and that the school belongs slightly below UPhoenix or DeVry.

lol !

(10char.)

I still remember advertisement song "dun dun dun dun you can dooo-it!!!"

I've actually PM'ed the man who runs this, Rodger? about this and he said he would take it into consideration, however, I think if a ton of us did, it might actually happen.

Interesting. Couldn't hurt.

great...finally

How would we contact the moderator? I'd support that.

Have you heard about any upcoming changes since then? Or is all still quiet on the Western Front...
