Yeah but Emory was still like 8 spaces ahead of Tufts in the rankings in 2004. Doesn't that make you think that admissions rate might not be as important as we think it is? I don't know, I'm asking...

LOL everyone I know noticed that stupid Daily typo and made fun of it forever.

wow Emory is really dropping over the years.

Why am I so unlucky? All the colleges that would have been matches a few years ago are gonna be reaches now, gahh.

Rankings are dumb.

This whole discussion is kinda dumb. We should be more concerned about Tufts' name recognition than admissions since it has more of an effect on its reputation and whether I'll be able to get a job after college.

Making it harder to get into college is not what us poor little HS seniors need! Ack! It's enough stress as it is. This year was the biggest applying class EVER. So acceptance rates at a lot of schools went down purely because of that.

Some schools have, I think, such tiny acceptance rates because so many people apply on a lark, to see "if" they will get in (ie Princeton, Yale), not because they actually want to go there. At least that is in my experience.

The small change in percentage may have something to do with the more creative application. Which was slightly daunting, but interesting.

The key to getting the admission rate down (not that there's anything wrong with that) is getting more students to APPLY to Tufts.

So instead of complaining, get the word out..........

Exactly... This this is the type of thread that discourages many potential applicants by showing off our inferiority complex and making them think that we are snobby elitists.

I agree. I would also like to add that I am the least self-centered person I know.

what does it affect... if it's acceptance rates go up or down, how does it affect the students and the ones taht will apply in the school later.... idunno pls explain to me.

Agreed with both of you. However, I think this may have something to do with the fact that Tufts over-accepted 2 years ago and ended up with a massive housing shortage, and then under-accepted last year and had to take a ton of ppl off the waitlist :-/
