hey...I'm trying to decide between Tufts and Bryn Mawr..
I've visited both schools and I stayed overnight at Bryn Mawr..
I didn't really get to know Tufts PEOPLE since there wasn't that much time to intermingle with students...
well, at Bryn Mawr I liked the fact that it was all girls school...they looked more not-concerned with looks?? and free,,,I guess??
and I loved the weather and the campus...and the dorms were bigger than my own room.
People were unbelievably nice...up to the point that I felt I was too cynical to attend Bryn Mawr...(even though I'm introverted)
At tufts, I really liked the academics..and I really liked the biology professor..
Everyone was telling me how different Tufts is from Bryn Mawr..
I've heard good things and bad things about Tufts...
good things were, obviously that people are smart, professors are nice..blahblah
but some people seemed to have this view that Tufts students are "preppy", and Tufts guys were "popular lacross players when they were at highschool."
I don't play sports, I'm not a cheerleader type, I drink but my friends don't...
well....Please tell me more about Tufts....Help!!
Thanks~

Jskim3487, my D is at Bryn Mawr and I can tell you that she LOVES it. The school impresses the hell out of me too, so of course, I'm biased---LOL! I can tell you that it has a great reputation for excellence in food service. My D often calls home and tells us about the wonderful dinner she's just had... Obviously, this is an important issue for some students, as students from its Bi-Co neighbor, Haverford, often travel the mile's distance between the two campuses to eat at Bryn Mawr's dinning hall.

Bryn Mawr is an academically rigorous school that is very committed to educating strong, disciplined, and independent thinking women. A very high percentage of its graduates go on to earn terminal degrees. It also inspires a very loyal and supportive alumni base.

Honestly, I know nothing of Tufts, except the fact that it's well regarded, and a much larger, coed school. I'll admit I'm prejudiced in favor of Bryn Mawr, but I suggest you go with your gut. Pretend someone has a loaded gun to your head, and you have to make a definite decision about which school you'll attend within five seconds or they'll pull the trigger...

Which school would hurridly blurt out?

people are asking me why I'm stuck between two vastly different schools.. does that mean that Tufts people are really mean since I found Bryn Mawr people to be really nice?? I'm so confused :(

i've heard great things about Bryn Mawr but as a Tufts graduate I can tell you that it is a great school and the people are very nice! It is a very diverse campus in terms of personalities - while there are definitely preppy lacrosse players, there are also hippies, nerds, and all other types. It is a very friendly atmosphere and I definitely felt like I was part of a community there. Academics at both are great, although Tufts is a bit more prestigious. Both are suburban but Tufts is larger which makes a difference. If you like the idea of an all girls environment, then Bryn Mawr is probably for you - ultimately you have to choose the school you feel most comfortable with - but don't rule out Tufts because you think the people are mean because that's not true!

MY daughter was warned away from Bryn Mawr by a friend of my wife's who graduated from there. She said it was not the place to go if you want any social life.

When we visited it seemed great, but the impression we got was that the workload was downright onerous.
