Hey guys,
So Tufts has always been one of my top choices but getting into the Upenn was a pleasant surprise. I am in the College of Arts and Sciences for both schools but I am completely undecided and am even thinking about transferring into the School of Engineering if that is a possibility. After going to the accepted student days for both schools, I am still struggling to make a decision. Here are the verdicts I have made from both universities.
Tufts- I love the size and vibe of the school. All of the students seemed very friendly and collaborative, and the campus is beautiful. It's just outside of Boston which I also love and I feel like that would give me good internship opportunities, but it is also a 10 minute drive from my house which is not ideal. The food is amazing too. If I had not gotten into Penn, I would have already sent my deposit in on Tufts and been happy about it. However, I have heard that the school gives priority to the premed students and a lot of the hard science/math students have trouble signing up for classes as a freshman. Tufts also does not have the resources or opportunities that Upenn would offer.
Upenn- The academics seem amazing for every major which is very nice for someone undecided like me. The students on campus seemed very welcoming and nice and there is always a lot going on in the city. However, I am not sure if I like the pre-professional vibe there. There seems to be a lot of stress and competition because a lot of classes are graded on curve and I am worried this vibe transfers to the clubs and organizations at the university. The housing system seemed a bit chaotic too and the food isn't great.
What do you guys think? Thank you for helping!
