tuition bill questions

The problem is I don’t have my student ID yet (going to Stern and didn’t go to the 1-day “orientation” they had) so when I tried to waive my insurance it told me they couldn’t find my ID or something. Also, I just updated my meal plan and that’s not reflected on the bill yet either. I don’t want to underpay and have problems, but if I overpay I’d like to know that they send me back the money later.

edit: nevermind about the meal plan update, I hadn’t checked the balance through albert (I’m going to assume what it tells me there is the right one?)
edit 2: Wait, it’s still not right because it subtracted my previous meal plan but it doesn’t seem like it added on my new one.

you have a student number. you got one when you were accepted. it should be in NYUHome or on your paper statements from NYU. it’s on all your accounts already. double check ALBERT or call NYU and ask for it. you just don’t have the plastic that has it printed on it.

it’s NXXXXXXXX. that’s all the digits.

Yeah, I was about to edit again to say nevermind about that. I must’ve typed it in wrong the first time or something because it told me that the ID wasn’t found (I’m not sure why I assumed I needed the physical ID either, must be all this payment stress, ha).

yeah, it’s weird. sometimes forms want you to write the whole number “N12345678” or just “12345678”.

Sometimes when you log into Albert or the Housing Portal it asks for your Net ID… but it’s really asking for your email ID. Which is three letter and three numbers. I don’t know if that helps at all, but I was confused for a long time until I figured that one out.

Ooh, that used to confuse me too, I’d just end up going at it the long way by going through nyuhome etc. That said, my email ID is two letters, four numbers. O:

yeah, claire, where do you get three and three from?

you can change your nyu email (NOT netID) into your real name, if you want. i made mine my realname @nyu.edu

07/12/2009 Tsoa Undg.Regist.&svcs.Fee $ 1,089.50
07/12/2009 Film/Tv Lab Support Fee $ 357.00
07/12/2009 Tsoa Film/Tv Equipment Ins. $ 85.00
07/12/2009 Tsoa Film/Tv Liability Ins. $ 50.00

Will all that crap be on my bill every semester?

We got hit with registration and lab fees both semesters, and insurance only in the fall (of course, 'cause that’s the smallest one.) So be prepared for another $1400 charge in January.

^ Yeah, it will be. I have the same stuff as you, except instead of film fees I have freaking dramatic writing lab fees (for what exactly???). I called my dept. and they said yes they are there all four years.

hey, those film and tv equipment cost a lot…and to rent them from campus media would cost a crap load over the semester. they have the insurance just in case since they own the equipment.

^Yeah but there was a whole fiasco about the film equipment insurance just last year.
Sigh, so much for leftover money. Thanks for the clear-up guys. I guess it’s true what they say about the love-hate relationship with NYU.
