Does anyone know about a $6,000 discount on tuition for students who get accepted and choose to commute rather to live on campus? If this is true, I think it would really make a difference to a lot of students considering Fordham.

yeah its true.

It is called a Metro Grant. Not sure if all commuters get one, but you could always call Financial Aid & ask.

My daughter just got a promotional letter from Fordham saying that. Psychologically, that takes Fordham from a $46,000 plus school to a $28,000 school (if you take away room, board and the $6,000 discount). I know there would still be transportation and lunch and students would probably rather live on campus, but I think it is great that Fordham is being innovative in keeping costs down. I haven't heard of any other local colleges offering that.

I think it is a combination of helping keep costs down and being more likely to have enough dorm room space.
