Tuition

How much will it cost me to attend CPP for one year? And I mean everything, books, etc…

I think you should check on their website.

^ In state, living on campus, it will be around $17,000 a yr.

Ok on their site i check how much it is if i am not dorming, there is tuition which is 4,551 and then books and fees 1500. THEN there is all this random payments like room and board 4,050 ? Personal expenses 1,491?? Transportation 1,008?!? OK for one thing what the hell is transportation suppose to mean? I have a car, so what else do I have to pay for? They better not charge me for walking. Room and board? I am living at home why do i need to pay for that? Personal expenses are suppose to be…? There is one that makes sense which is the loan fee for like 174. All these payments add up to like 12000! After reading their flyers and everything it said payments are like 4000… Its either im misinterpreting something or this is correct… Can someone clarify. Thanks

The transportation cost is an estimate on how much you will spend on gas during the year while you are there. Same thing with personal expenses, etc. If you live on campus, room and board is the actual cost of room and board, if you live off campus it is, again, an estimate of how much you will spend on room and board. It’s basically just a big estimate of how much everything all together will cost you for a given year at the school.

Around 18,000 if you’re living on campus, in the red bricks.
Source: just went to the engineering day today

naixn92 how was engineering day?

it was good. first, you had a presentation on your major (professors, classes you will have to take, etc…) and then you visited the labs and actually meet professors and graduating students as well. they also did some experiments, which were actually fun!
lastly, they provided a mini-lunch and campus/housing tours.

ps: i was in the civil engineering tour.

i wanted to buy a sweater but the bookstore was closed. it was funny, 'cause hella people went to the bookstore but couldn’t open the doors haha.

thanks guys, i appreciate the info.

@naixn, you guys got a minilunch? lol they didnt give us anything, and they didnt do any experiments… but they did show us some labs… it was actually really boring. The professors were really nice though. The only place i thought was interesting was the light lab (how to construct a lightbulb and the science behind it) .

I was in the computer and electrical engineering tour.

@futbol, oh wow really? did they just talk on and on about their classes and programs or something? plus, i thought the “mini” lunch was for everyone! i guess not…

are you considering attending Cal Poly Pomona though? I think i will… still waiting for UC’s though but i don’t think i can afford UC’s now …

I am thinking of going to cpp actually. My “dream” school ever since like 10th grade was UCI, but I have had to change because of the increase in price. So this year I have only applied to only 2 schools, CSUF and CPP (I got into fullerton, waiting for cpp).

You know, I had a cousin who attended CSUF for electrical engineering (I am doing computer engineering, but they are similar) and he graduated and within like 3 years he was making 6 figures… So if I get rejected from cal poly, its not like CSUF is bad or anything. So i really dont care what school I go to. And I already got accepted to CSUF, so I do have a backup. And both of them are equal distance from my home.

I am leaning towards CSUF though because I really hate the idea of a quarter system… It seems way too fast. But I really do not know though… I am the oldest out of my siblings. I dont know anything about college. Does anyone have any advice?

oh i see. i can’t help you much… first one in the family going to college!
