I’m a junior right now. Very enamored with Tulane, but also looking at Syracuse and BC, as well as possibly Vandy (and Duke (know I would be unlikely to be accepted).
Here are my stats:
State: Florida, public high school which is rated about 250 nationally (US News ranking)
IB programme
GPA: 4.0 unweighted which hopefully will stay that way (so possibly valedictorian)
Weighted I’m not sure but I think about 4.48
This years schedule includes apush, aplang, French 4 IB, calc ap/IB, env sci IB
ACT: 29. It was my first time and I didn’t study. I scored 30+ on all sections but bombed math (24) which was a shock
EC: I’m going to include everything here: JV Cheer 9th, Varsity Cheer 10th-12th Captain for Winter season this year and will be captain all year next year
NCA All-American Cheerleader 2014, 2015
9th-NJHS President
10-12-NHS
9th-Drama Club-received excellent at district comp for duet musical
11-12-Debate Club
11th-Sports Editor for Yearbook
12th-will be editor-in-chief for yearbook
Currently involved in marketing internship for major cheer company
Volunteer/service:
This is a little weak. I have volunteered (in IB we have a requirement) but unfortunately in 9th and 10th it was unfocused (would do beach cleanups, relay for life etc)
This year I have started tutoring middle schoolers in Algebra which I enjoy and I will continue to do this throughout this year and next year. I also am involved in a club called Students in Action where we do service work, but so far it’s slow-going.
So any thoughts on my chances and how to improve? Oh, I also do competitive cheer which is a huge time commitment, not sure if I should include that. I always feel like cheer is kind of looked down on
I will be touring Tulane in the Spring and BC and Syracuse in the summer.
