Called admissions today with a question and the women mentioned that they got through the ED applications more quickly than they had expected so hence the release date moving up to the 19th. Emails will be sent to the students. Exciting and nerve wracking!
@mmd1073 Here’s a quote from the admissions blog about Early Action “EA letters will head out for most students in mid December. Green Wave portals will be updated a few days after letters are mailed out”
Did you get the impression that they were done with all ED applications? Also with Tulane releasing ED’s early this year does that mean they got less ED applications?
ED is done and in the mail yesterday. They posted a picture of all the admission letters on Facebook (or some other social media - cannot recall which one). Good luck to everyone!
Just applied EA on the 15th at 10:00. Threw together an awful supp (100 words) and a good EC elaboration. I applied for Philosophy. I have an 88 UW GPA, 34 ACT, mostly honors/AP/IB/DE classes, and okay extracurriculars.
I was under the impression that they would gradually release EA decisions. Because I submitted my EA app 3 weeks earlier than the deadline I was hoping for an earlier decision. Is this not the case?
@coagulation I also submitted 3 weeks prior to the deadline because I was under this impression too. I guess this is not the case (see the quote I posted above from the admissions blog). The only benefit I got out of it was that I got to interview last weekend which was pretty early on.
I dont think i matters how much earlier you summit your application. They start to look at them all after the deadline
The Tulane website makes it seem as if the EAs could come at anytime prior to 1/15 - “We release admission decisions as they become available, up to the notification deadline for each application period (December 15th for Early Decision applicants, January 15th for Early Action applicants, and April 1st for Regular Decision applicants). It is important to remember that this means some students will receive their admission decision at different times than others. Therefore, the order in which applicants receive their admission decision is not reflective of the decision itself. Applicants should not assume they have been admitted or denied if they know of someone else that has received a decision before them.”
I received an account log in for the Gibson portal despite not having applied for financial aid and after they sent out the ED letters. What does this mean?
It’s probably a standard account login for applicants.
Where does Tulane announce do you get an email? Or is it on a portal?
I’m pretty sure it’s the Portal, with the Large Letter/Envelope coming within 5-10 days later.
@TXDad56 they sent the letters out on Friday so they should be there in a day or 2. Portal release is today at 4.
Does anyone know if letters/packages are sent only for accepted students? Or does every ED applicant receive something in the mail? I was hoping my daughter would find out via mail rather than online but maybe it just makes sense to have her check the portal tonight if there’s no package in the mail?
@Rivergirl1313 everyone gets a letter. But it differs depending on accepted, deferred, rejected, and accepted for spring. If you do not live in LA I would probably check the portal first bc it takes longer for out of state and they just sent letters Friday and I am an in-state applicant and still have not gotten mine yet!
do you think all the letters in the Admissions IG/Facebook posts were acceptance letters or everything?
@Joedibrown I think it’s safe to say that big packets like those are not rejections.
According to friends ED decisions are on the portal now.
No mail (in Massachusetts) and nothing on the portal…we’ll see what happens later in the day
