I know a good number of us got deferred from the SCEA/EA pool, so I thought it'd be good if we could start a little support group. Only positive thoughts here! We all still have a chance! What are you doing to further your chances? How do you feel about your deferral? I know it sucks to be deferred, but you're not alone!

I got deferred too! I emailed two people at Tulane-my counselor and then she referred me to another guy to email to show my interest. My councelor is sending more recommendations to them and my GPA is looking good! I’m hoping for the best but expecting the worst. Won’t hear back till April…

You’ll be fine! Wishing you lots of luck! Also, there used to be what was called University College. I’m from NOLA and have had relatives who were deferred from Tulane, but were able to enter University College. After strong semesters there, they were able to transfer over to Tulane with no problem. If you feel strongly about heading to NOLA and attending Tulane, I would look into that. And of course, there’s always transfer. Good luck!

I am assuming all the decisions have been made. I can’t believe the admissions counselors are out travelling to “Tulane Comes to You” events and still looking at applications. I have to say it is terribly insensitive to these kids who have been hanging on since December from EA and SCEA to hear that their classmates are atttending these events and meeting with the very same admissions people who still haven’t decided on the deferred students fate!! Come on - Tulane needs to get their act together a little more and not string these kids along. It is like telling a possible prom date you will go with him IF somebody better comes along then waiting, waiting, waiting for someone better.

Niftygal - You are making a lot of assumptions that are simply not correct. With electronic documents these days, people can indeed work away from the office on a lot of things. No one is stringing anybody along, Tulane from the start promised a decision by April 1. How have they broken that promise in any way?

I think the EA and SCEA deferred students are having their decisions dragged out and especially if they wait until April 1 to tell them they aren’t in. No promises broken, but some deferred students have gotten decisions and others haven’t so just having these kids wait until the very end seems a little much.

I do understand the feelings of what’s being said. I submitted my application close to eight months ago and not having a decision by now seems a bit ridiculous. I would certainly hope that all the decisions have yet to be made as I am still waiting. It is easy to feel like we are being lead on. I would rather receive a rejection now than wait another month for one. But at the same time I am trying to remain positive. Tulane is my first choice and always has been. I can only hope that admissions understand how committed I am to the university. My lungs are exhausted from holding my breath since August.
