Tulane EA 2025 Decisions

My son did today

My daughter did today also.

Does Tulane release their RD decisions (and EA deferred to RD decisions) rolling?

I did also. Does anyone know how many invites are sent out?

Thanks, My daughter did as well. Any idea how many are invited?

On one of the older TPM threads a current student said there are 9 students per class off of the top of my head.

What is TPM?

Tulane Pathway to Medicine (med school)

It’s a BS/MD program that provides guaranteed admission to Tulane Med School, pending certain requirements. Here’s some info about the program: Special Programs | Medicine

If you were not invited to apply and meet the typical stats (or are close), I’d recommend reaching out to the AO in charge of the program to ask about being invited to apply.

Thank you! My son is going into architecture…guess that’s why I didn’t recognize the acronym.

My son applied EA in early November and still have not received my notification. He’s logged in every day for the past month and there have been no updates to his status, not even a deferral.

Has this happened to anyone else? He’s heard of many getting accepted from EA in mid-December, but do they just drag out people they intend to defer?

If your son applied EA, he should have had his decision in Dec (most people were deferred, as you probably know). But there is no reason that his decision would not have been given other than them not having the correct info or him not making it in time for the EA deadline.

I would definitely suggest that he contact admissions because they made a big push for ED2, which is why they notified EA kids of their deferrals in time to switch. Something isn’t right. Good luck to your son.

Thank you. Yes, very odd. Frankly, I’ve not been all that impressed with Tulane. It’s almost as if they try to make themselves seem more exclusive through deferring everyone and offer limited transparency.

This push for kids into ED2 bothers me as well, as they will not give you any indication of your aid package (which is not unique to Tulane). Each says to fill out the net price calculator, but very few middle class families, especially those on the coasts, will qualify. It’s essentially asking a student give their commitment, but the college refuses to give any commitment to them. Many schools are doing this to increase their yield, but it tends to favor only the wealthy who can afford to pay $75k/year if that’s what the college decides.

Thank you for your response.

Right!!! Is it not embarrassing for them that everyone knows they’re just trying to lower acceptance rate and raise yield??

I agree Tulane plays a ridiculous game. It makes me not want my daughter to attend. What other ridiculous games do they play? It’s not a good look for any college.

I suspect this may be one of the reasons they have such a high rate of students transferring out.

So the deferment may have saved us. My high stats daughter DID want to go there. Their loss.

Tulane’s freshman to sophomore retention rate per the 2019/20 CDS was 92.77%, the nationwide average was 78%. Tulane’s retention rate is similar to other competitor schools such as NYU, UMiami, Wake Forest, U Richmond, BU and more. In summary, Tulane doesn’t seem to have a problem with students transferring out.

@Mwfan1921 , I stand corrected and thank you for providing the stats. I’d based my comment on what their retention rates had been when my older daughter applied several years ago, as well as its reputation at the time for having higher rates of transferring out. The data you shared shows that they seemed to have “righted the ship.”

For those of us that have been around for a while, the annual sour grapes posts become tiresome. Especially because you don’t know as much as you think you do. For the sake of your well-being, recommend you focus on the acceptances and positives in your respective application experiences. Good luck.
