@pishicaca, you’re right. It’s probably because I’ve been around for a while that I have my own biases from when my older kids applied. I stand corrected. Thanks for using current facts.
While there might be some sour grapes, I have found the information insightful.
If it doesn’t talk about merit scholarships in the acceptance letter for spring scholars, what does that mean? I have a weighted GPA of 4.068 and I didn’t submit an SAT score. I need the scholarship to be able to afford this school and I didn’t see any money in the acceptance letter. Does that mean I received no money? can I call the school and ask?
Hi I’m really late but I was accepted EA with 48k scholarship (12k/year) and thought I would share my stats:
GPA: 3.995 W (no UW but probably 3.82 based on my calculations)
SAT: 1430 w/ 710 english & 720 math
6 APs: 2 Junior & 4 senior; Scores: Bio (4), World History (4), English Lang (5, without the class).
Ecs: President of National Spanish Honor Society, math tutor for national honor society, medical club and operation smile club member, family responsibilities tutoring sister with educational difficulties, orchestra member all four years (piano), literary magazine staff
Demographics: Hispanic/White, middle class, competitive private school
Lots of demonstrated interest: 5+ virtual webinars and well written/thorough ‘why Tulane’ essay.
Strengths: essays for sure. Grades are good but gpa is really deflated due to competitive environment.
if you got the PT it would replace the 18k merit, not stack on top of each other. So your merit would be whatever full tuition is each year.
You likely didn’t receive one of the automatic partial merit scholarships, though if you’ve applied for the competitive ones, you might still get one. I’d recommend contacting Tulane Admissions to confirm, since the process for Spring Scholars may be slightly different.
This one is still pending in my D’s portal.
“The Legislative Scholarship Program provides a full-tuition, one-year scholarship to Tulane University for Louisiana residents”
Will you be attending? We’re you accepted with honors?
It is one of my top choices but I am still waiting for a couple other decisions and financial aid packages. And I wasn’t accepted with honors
Has anyone received their financial aid package or know how long it will take?
Daughter just received financial aid package update this afternoon. Incredibly pleased…does anyone know if the offers stand every year or do they reconsider merit/Tulane scholarship every single year? Simply put - pending any grade issues on her part, can we count on award being the same every year?
Wondering at this point how much of a chance I have of getting in after I’m deferred?
Financial aid will likely be recalculated every year since it is based on financial need, but unless otherwise specified, I’d assume that merit scholarships will be renewable based on the conditions outlined in admission letter. Contact the Admissions or FA office if you have specific questions.
Has anyone who was deferred sent their LOCI yet?
yes - a few weeks ago
Me too. I sent mine to my rep, in addition to some updates for my application
I just included my updates in my LOCI, should I have done it separately?
No, I did it all in one.
Perfect, thanks! Good luck!
Did people hear back after sending their LOCI?
