The whole “I know deferral wasn’t the news you were hoping for” paragraph?

Thank you. My D ended up by doing ED2. Most likely why I wasn’t familar with LOCI.

Hey, just thought I would add my info and story about what happened with my Tulane application. So, I submitted my scores, wrote a strong Why Tulane essay, did an interview, and am a Louisiana student. I applied EA instead of ED, even though Tulane is my top choice, solely because of financial reasons. I am in an early college program so I only took one AP (Eng Lang with a 4), but I took 6 honors and 16 dual enrollment courses at the time of application (20 when I graduate). I will graduate with a high school diploma and Associate’s Degree from a local community college.
ACT: 32
Weighted GPA: 4.63
Race: White
Gender: Female
Extracurriculars: Competitive swimmer (club and high school)(MVP, national team, and other awards within that), Beta Club, Spanish Club, LGBTQ+ Club, many volunteer hours through Beta, and had a job since I was a sophomore.
Okay
the good stuff: I was deferred EA and then accepted a few days ago with $15,000 a year in merit aid, still waiting on Financial Aid, though not expecting enough. Tulane has been my top choice for years but because of financial reasons I probably won’t be able to attend but it still felt good to get the acceptance. I also applied for Paul Tulane, Louisiana Excellence, and unsuccessfully tried to get a Legislative Scholarship.

yup! exactly - ha ha

So Tulane is already admitting deferred students? I guess I just assumed deferred students would hear at the same time as regular decision.

Yes, another one got into ED11 last week, after deferred from ED1.

Shoot, hopefully then I may hear soon instead of having to wait a couple months!

When you receive your financial aid package ask for more if it is not enough. Tulane is a private university with a lot of money to give out. Chances are they will up the amount considerable and it never hurts to ask. Explain to them your circumstance and what you need to make it financially possible. Tell then Tulane is your first choice if you can afford to go. Tulane is all about keeping their acceptance rate low so whatever they need to do to keep their yield rate high, they will do!

Did you switch your application to ED II or did Tulane just admit you under the regular decision deferral group?

I just submitted the continued interest form and was in the regular decision deferred group.

Great idea, thanks! My counselor said the same thing since I told her our financial situation was negatively changed from 2019 to 2020.

So wait, how / when did you find out you were accepted
