Tulane EA 2025 Decisions

Money from NM. Scholarship reduced, no financial aid for us.

Almost all colleges will reduce school scholarships if an outside scholarship is awarded. Therefore we did not even bother to apply outside ones.

What if I receive an outside scholarship but I’m still under the cost of attendance (with that scholarship)?

In my understanding, they may reduce your aid/scholarship amount from the school source. For example, you had 30k merit + 30k aid + 17k out of pocket. After you got 10k from outside, the package may look like this 30k merit + 20k aid + 10k outside + 17k out of pocket. My feeling is if 17k is the EFC they calculated, they will keep that amount.

Of course, the FA officer’s explanation will be more accurate.

Not sure if this is in the right place, but how is Tulane for pre-med? Are there many freshman weed-out classes and/or grade deflation? Are students always competing for every little opportunity? I have met soooooo many Tulane pre-meds, so it it an extremely cutthroat school for pre-med?

How hard is it to get into their Creative Premedical Scholars program?

Is it a better idea to go to a less competitive school (like a state school) and get a better GPA and be top of the line there or go to a place like Tulane? I’m 100% sure I want to go into medicine.

You may have to dig deeper somewhere else for the surviving rate of their medical programs. If you just want to become a doctor, I’d suggest choosing the least cost/effort as the best approaching, as 90%+ doctors’ salary non-related to their medical school ranks.

Does anyone know when RD decisions come out? My daughter applied EA in early November, but Tulane did not “pick up” the documents submitted by her counselor, so they pushed her into RD without making a decision.

Given the issues in the past, we’re a bit concerned. The decisions by the students are due May 1st, correct?

Any time before April 1st.
We release admission decisions as they become available, up to the notification deadline for each application period (December 15th for Early Decision applicants, January 15th for Early Action applicants, and April 1st for Regular Decision applicants). It is important to remember that this means some students will receive their admission decision at different times than others. Therefore, the order in which applicants receive their admission decision is not reflective of the decision itself. Applicants should not assume they have been admitted or denied if they know of someone else that has received a decision before them.

@usernamelol1 Thank you!

If this wasn’t one of my daughter’s top schools, I doubt we’d be so patient waiting five months for a decision. Fingers crossed for everyone!

CAn you guys please cahnce me. I freaking out.
I’m an international student studying the A-Level curriculum.
→ I have a 4.0/4.0 UW GPA
→ I come #35 out of 950 (maybe 1200 students- not too sure due to recent expansion) students at my high school
→ SAT got a 1360. (noot submitted)
→ Predicted 3A* at A-Level (Mathematics, Econ, Business)
→ Wasn’t allowed to partake in extracurriculars due to some reasons but tried my best to pursue those things which I’m interested in. I know they are extremely unorthodox and probably have no weightage in the eyes of the admissions officers.

Started my own Charity (Unofficial- Doesn’t have a name and isn’t registered yet)
Became a self-taught forex and stocks trader and also teach trading- to help my father financially and to pay for the charity.
took care of my grandparents on a regular basis.
tutored my younger cousin
was the captain of 3 business competitions
Am an unofficial fitness trainer and nutritionist
Am a micro Instagram influencer- make my own content/earn some money too.
Miscellaneous activities/hobbies- participated in a couple of badminton tournaments at my club, frequently paint/draw, etc
→ I also faced certain extenuating circumstances because of which I got mediocre O-Level results and because of which I was also not allowed to participate in ECAs.
→ financial aid needed

I’ve been rejected from all my US unis so I’m not expecting anything good. Surprisingly even my safties rejected me.

You sound very interesting and motivated. However, this year has been particularly weird, for lack of a better term. Two years ago my son applied to Tulane and was accepted, and asked to be in the honors program, and received a $23k a year scholarship. This year, my daughter who has better stats, almost exact same ECs, and wrote about the challenges of her disability was deferred from Tulane during Early Action
but she went test optional (which I am beginning to think has been viewed negatively by many universities, despite what they say). You might get in if your essays are very compelling and they are trying to make their incoming class diverse (and maybe you are from a region of the world where they are lacking representation). But, again, since were test-optional, to be honest, I wouldn’t count on an offer. However, you only have 3 more days to wait. Us, too! Good luck!

The housing agreements, refer to below, mention a gap during the Christmas time. I understand students will not live in dorm during that gap, but do you need to move out all your belongs by 12/15 and move them back 01/16?

"For the fall 2021 semester, rooms may be occupied on Saturday, August 21, 2021, and must be vacated by NOON on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 or 24 hours after the Resident’s last exam, whichever occurs first, unless otherwise specified by the agreement. For the spring 2022 semester, rooms may be occupied on, Sunday January 16, 2022 and must be vacated by NOON on Monday, May 16, 2022, or 24 hours after the Resident’s last exam, whichever occurs first, unless otherwise specified by the University’s Housing and Residence Life Office (“HRL” or “University Housing”). "

No, you don’t move all your stuff out at Christmas break.

This is really cool, and I wish my D can win this scholarship (LA residents only).

Does anyone know if there is a forum or some platform where enrolled applicants can talk about dorms and roommates, etc? Thanks in advance.
