"I just got an email from Tulane with subject being “Tulane Scholarship Opportunities” and the first sentence says “Thank you for applying to Tulane University!”
What does this email mean? They have just started to review my application?"
Guys – this question has already been asked and answered a dozen times already.
THESE EMAILS ARE AUTO-GENERATED. THESE EMAILS MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT YOUR APPLICATION STATUS. EVERYONE GETS THESE EMAILS.
My kid was accepted three weeks ago. Today we received an email letting us know that we had until January 15 to apply regular decision.
We also received emails inviting us to apply early decision. And to apply early action. And to apply for additional scholarships. And to apply for financial aid.
Those emails were received before applying and after applying. They were received before being accepted and after being accepted.
@northwesty Okay okay, calm down. The point you are trying to make does not even answer my question.
Of course it is auto-generated; I do not expect my rep to email thousands of students with the same generic email manually.
But I asked if the email means they have started looking at my application. Perhaps my app is near the top of the queue (if they have a system like this).
@2021Hopeful I really don’t think it means your application is near the top of any pile. I think it simply means the computer system is aware you are an applicant. My daughter has been receiving these emails for over a month, and still no decision. Some people on this thread have heard back in a week after the file has been marked complete, whereas others have been waiting 6+ weeks. The good news is that we should all have an answer, one way or another, within the next 4 weeks.

Hopeful – sorry if my answer was not clear. Let me try again.
The email means nothing other than your application has been received. You will also get an email inviting to you apply for financial aid. That one means nothing. And one inviting you to apply for scholarships. That one means nothing. Even though you’ve already applied, you may also get an email inviting you to apply RD before the 1/15 deadline. That one means nothing. Everyone gets the same emails as you did. They all mean nothing.
If anyone applying is a Louisiana resident- be aware that they have guaranteed acceptance for all residents that meet a certain GPA and ACT level. This is listed on their website. That said, I was accepted and granted a $20,000/year scholarship (without applying for any merit scholarships) and am being considered for need based aid as well.
does tulane include whether or not you will receive merit aid on the email/letter they send you with your acceptance, or do you find out at a separate time from your acceptance?
I just got an email (11/24/16 at 3:06 PM) from Tulane University Undergraduate Admissions…
Subject: Our Superstar Professors
First Line: “Congratulations on your admission to Tulane!”
Body: talks a little about Professor Campanella (Liberal Arts School - I applied to be a communications major)
Bottom: tells me to join the Tulane class of 2021 FB page, sign up for Destination Tulane, and submit my enrollment deposit via my application portal
Application Portal: not updated at all (app submitted 10/31, everything received 11/7)
Me: please help I am very confused
*Note: the email says it was sent to me and my email, so it’s not wrong? I am so confused right now
My daughter just received this same email, but with no update on the portal. Strangely, my husband also received the email, but I did not even though I’ve gotten all sorts of other Tulane emails in the past.
I got the same email, but no update on the portal. This looks like a for sure acceptance email! Congrats guys, another thing to be thankful for on Thanksgiving!
