Tulane ED II Class of 2023

Hello everyone!

Because ED and EA decisions are now out, I figured it would be appropriate to start a discussion about applying ED II, which is what I think I’m going to do (I was deferred today). Those who are also considering doing this - does anybody know what the merit aid situation is?? I know it is rare to get merit money for regular ED, and I assume it’s the same for ED II, but I just wanted to be sure.

Also, if anyone was wondering, I am OOS from New Jersey with a 29 ACT and a 3.7 GPA.

Is Ed 2 rolling ? I applied for Ed 2 November 30th .

@ceezyf no, ED 2 is not rolling. Tulane doesn’t offer rolling admission

After being deferred EA, I’m switching to EDII! Nervous!

I have a similar ACT score to yours. Unfortunately, at Tulane, I don’t think an ACT score in the high 20s will get you any significant merit aid.

Hello! I applied EA to Tulane, but was deferred. It is my top choice but money is a bit of an issue. My parents and I are mulling the option of switching to EDII. I was wondering if I must also complete the “continued interest form” on the Green Wave Portal. The wording of it sounds like if I complete that, I cannot switch to EDII. If anyone knows if I’m supposed to complete that and can still switch to EDII, that’d be great! Thank you!

I completed the continued interest form and I still have the option to switch to EDII

@adam729 Completing the continued interest form is necessary!

I was deferred EA last year with similar stars and switched my application to ED II. I got in and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! Good luck and roll wave! If you have any questions let me know.

@latte12 Did you get merit money as well? I have been debating switching my application, but wasn’t sure about money. Thanks!

S switched to ED II. Hoping it all works out, including the money. Good luck all.

Does anyone know generally how long it takes for ED II decisions to come out? Do they release them right at the 1/24 deadline or gradually throughout the month?

Can you get out of the Early Decision II binding agreement if you do not receive enough financial aid? It appears to be a possibility according to the EDII contract, but how feasible is it really? I am considering Tulane for EDII, but am concerned about the amount of financial aid that I will receive.

One more question, do you have to pay the enrollment deposit by the deadline if you are accepted, but have not received your financial aid package yet? I am asking because the EDII contract says “Should a student who applies for financial aid not be offered an award that makes attendance possible, the student may decline the offer of admission and be released from the Early Decision commitment” but Tulane’s website says that you need to pay the enrollment deposit by 1/28, which is 4 days after the EDII decisions come out while financial aid packages can range from 1 week - 3 weeks after decisions.

I didn’t get any merit money, but that was most likely due to my lower than Tulane average act score. I do know many people that also did ED II last year and I know that some of them did get merit aid, so there still should be a chance. PM me if u have more questions!

You will receive your FA package either at the same time as an acceptance or within a week. Once you look at the financials you are expected to accept if it’s financially feasible. Not getting enough aid is an acceptable reason to back out but Tulane does say that you should not apply ED if you can’t afford the full COA. My son did apply ED elsewhere and his school didn’t have the same philosophy. I would at the very least run the net price calculator at Tulane and make sure you can afford it.

@collegemom9 If the financial aid package does come within a week, would you still have to pay the enrollment deposit before you receive the financial aid package, or can you wait until you receive the package? My concern is that the financial aid package comes after the 1/28 deadline to submit the enrollment deposit.

You will have your financial aid package before the deposit deadline.

@collegemom9 If you were to appeal your financial aid package, would you still have to pay the deposit by the deadline?

Also, is there a possibility that ED2 decisions come out before the 24th?

I think so, I saw from a forum last year very similar to this one that people were receiving updates in their portals for EDII around January 10th and they gradually sent more decisions out after that as well, don’t know if they’ll be doing the same thing this year but I hope so!
