Bruh I really want to go to Tulane and my stats are in the range, but I didn’t do the “why Tulane” essay cause I suck at writing. My common app essay was 10/10 and I was super worried I would mess up the “why Tulane” one. Now I’m stressing that I won’t get in cause I didn’t do it. RIP
see i am refusing to check the EDII button. I just can’t let myself freak out over something that isn’t confirmed. I live in chicago so idk when my letter will come :///
Anyone have any idea when EA letters will hit NY/NJ area???
I think tomorrow but I’m not sure for NY NJ
I said this earlier but anyone know if EA only gets deferred or accepted?? Is rejection a thing for EA?
My EDII button worked but I’m scared it might mean I was just flat out rejected…
I believe Tulane does not reject for EA, only defer. They may defer if you are not qualified at all.
If my ED II link works, could I be deferred if they determined I’m an applicant viewing Tulane as a “safety” given my 1580 SAT score?? this is kinda freaking me out now too…
I think it really depends on demonstrated interest, but to be honest I’ve only ever heard about Tulane being concerned about being a safety on here (where everyone worries way too much), and I don’t know that you can even say it’s a proven thing @cbjs44 side note, congrats on that score. .that’s awesome!
Someone said earlier that their friend who was already accepted EA said that their EDII button works, so I don’t think this theory is true anymore
It would be supremely foolish of any school to reject candidates who are better qualified because of an unfounded fear of being a safety in that student’s college line up. They like to see interest and an enthusiastic “Why Tulane?” essay, but I doubt that any student with a 1400+ SAT or similar is at higher risk for deferral or something
@princessbex13 haha thank u! I agree though, we should all calm down and stop making rather unsubstantiated assumptions. I think the idea of rejecting an overqualified applicant is absolutely absurd, especially if that individual has a genuine interest in the school!
At our school in CA only one person with over a 1410 has ever been admitted (and they had a rather low 3.8 Weighted GPA)
The rest–about 10 or so–were waitlisted or denied.
It was so weird that my older son decided not to apply because no one with his high stats had ever got in…
But, I must say, it is quite possible that those applicants WERE using it as a safety and Tulane has a way of recognizing that.
Lower stats kids, according to the scattergram on Naviance, in kind of a “sweet spot”, seem to get in at a good rate.
I wouldn’t know, I’m the highest scoring student from my school to ever apply…it’s just such a ridiculous concept to me, though…
nervous!
damn now im nervous
Hey guys so now I’m really nervous about my demonstrated interest… I wrote the Why Tulane? essay to the word limit (800 words), I went to my school’s meeting and asked a lot of questions to my local admissions counselor, and I applied for the Paul Tulane Award. However, I applied on November 14th or 15th so I was never given an interview I put Tulane on my list pretty late because I loved it but my mom didn’t want me to go so far from where I live, lol. Do you guys think this will affect my decision? I have really unique and great ECs with leadership positions, 3.77 UW and 4.48 W, and a 34 ACT. I’m also Hispanic, and I know Hispanics are super underrepresented at TU… I believe my Why Tulane essay was really good because I connected my Spanish culture to New Orleans and talked about the student’s commitment to service, because I have 500+ service hours.
Okay guys, I just sent an email to my Tulane college counselor saying I tried to login this weekend and fill out the EDII button and it told me to contact him. Told him I wanted to get everything printed out and signed by my highschool counselor before the deadline in case EA didn’t go my way. I’ll let you know what he says…he usually responds pretty quickly.
This is a good start. Hope he gives you some clarity
Okay, lets not all send emails though…that would annoy them to no end. I promise I will let you know as soon as he responds.
wait… does Tulane have a free application?
