@Jillianrlong There was no separate application for the Honors Program, if that’s what you’re asking about. They automatically consider you!
If the policy of Tulane deferring students with certain profiles or standardized scores because they feel they are using the school as a safety is true then that is absolutely ridiculous. Tulane has been one of my top choices since sophomore year… I worked hard to earn a 106 GPA and 34 ACT and made sure i devoted myself to tons of ECs and volunteer work… I wrote the optional essay and worked tiredlessly to perfect my personal statement. Tulane is my #2 school, behind only a far reach I know I don’t have a shot at. Definitely upset to be deferred but praying I get in RD
@girlfromtexas hey, did you apply for early action or early decision, cause i applied EA and I haven’t gotten my decision yet?
deferred, 3.87 gpa 28 ACT, good letters of rec, lots of leadership ECs, good Common App and EC essays, okay Why Tulane essay.
and just wondering what is the ED/ED II theory?
it means they just have not made a final decision on your app and will re review your appliation during the RD period, no need to resubmit
The ed2 theory is that on Sunday, if you clicked the ed2 button and it worked, you got deferred. If you clicked the ed2 button and it didn’t work and said not authorized, you got accepted.
They removed the ed2 button Monday morning.
hey guys! kind of jumping the gun here… Tulane is my dream school but I definitely need more financial aid than what my merit scholarship got me. My family’s income likely won’t get us any aid, but I applied for both the Paul Tulane Award and the Deans’ Honor Scholarship. My stats are more than fine, but they’re not as insane as like a 34 ACT or a 4.5 GPA. I think my apps were good and I put substantial effort in them, but do you think my stats are going to prevent me from winning one of the scholarships? I really need the money and I don’t have many other viable options so far haha but I’m dead set on going to NOLA
I actually thought Tulane only accepted or deferred applicants in EA but one of my friends just told me she was rejected.
of people whose portals haven’t updated, did a “switch to ed II” button just reappear
@llaauurenn yep… really considering the idea we were pushed to RD due to some mistake in the database.
@Cof22mom Two of my friends got letters in the mail on Monday with acceptances with NO merit aid. So that theory isn’t true because they got in but no merit aid

And, no, EDII button did not work on Sunday night. Very excited for her b/c we think Tulane is a good fit. Good luck to all. And for those who have very, very strong ACTs and grades, please know that a girl from our hs who was rejected from Tulane last year was then accepted at Northwestern, Columbia and Penn with aid.
S was accepted and received $27k scholarship. 35 ACT, strong SAT IIs and 3.6 uw gpa at rigorous Washington DC private school well known to Tulane. Good ECs and excellent recs and essays. No interview. Had a great visit and, as a result, Tulane has been one of his top choices. Deferred at #1 choice. This scholarship probably moves Tulane to the top of his list so, at least in his case, Tulane seems to know what they are doing.
Good luck to those deferred. Definitely read the Dean Jeff blog post about next steps, it’s been helpful and on point every step of the way.
