Tulane EA Extended

Hi All,
A point of clarification with our current early deadlines. The Early Action and SCEA deadline has indeed been extended to December 3rd. We did this to give applicants a bit more time to complete their applications.

If a student completed their application for EA or SCEA by the November 15th deadline, they will still receive that decision by December 15th. The later decision notification date is only for students who take advantage of the December 3rd deadline. These students will hear before the New Year.

Any EA or SCEA applicants who apply to Tulane before December 3rd are still eligible to apply for both the Paul Tulane Award or the Dean’s Honor Scholarship.

If you have any questions about these deadlines, do not hesitate to contact your admission counselor. Thanks and Roll Wave!

Thanks for that clarification, Jeff. I think that should calm everyone’s nerves.

A few questions for fallenchemist and or TulaneJeff. If I applied on November 14th (EA), does that mean my application will be reviewed even though Tulane has not received my test scores? As of right now, Gibson says that everything is in besides my test scores, which I sent in about a week and a half ago. Do you think I will still receive a decision before Dec.15?

I really appreciate the clarification. I have no problem with this at all, as Tulane is standing by the commitment it made to EA applicants who applied by Nov 15 that they will receive a decision by Dec 15. Thanks.

I can’t say definitively, but I suspect you will hear by Dec. 15. Test scores are sent electronically, so Tulane probably got them before the 15th. It just takes longer to update Gibson.

Is there any chance that they will review my application before my test scores get there? I did put my composite ACT score down on the application.

Thanks also, Jeff, for the clarification on the scholarship info.

Absolutely. It is rare people lie about their test scores (for the obvious reason) so it is definitely possible your application will have been reviewed. On the other hand, you didn’t get your application in until the 14th, so it wouldn’t be surprising if you don’t hear until closer to Dec 15th. Who knows. Of course they won’t release a result until they officially have everything.

I realize that the process varies not only from college to college but also from family to family (and I could certainly spend hours–well more like * years*–disparaging the whole admissions circus overall). But in my own son’s case, Tulane’s approach has been the clearest and sanest. He received his decision shortly after he applied, and our regional rep, Antoinette Abboud, has been very prompt and thorough in her correspondence on the handful of occasions that my son had questions. This has definitely not been true everywhere.

^^ I totally agree! We are very much inclined to love Tulane for their reasonable approach to the admissions process.

While my son decided to attend another school, I just want to agree with Sally about their very straightforward admissions process and the excellent responsiveness of Antoinette Abboud. I think they are clever and strategic in issuing decisions so quickly and then immediately following up with scholarship offers.
