I've narrowed down my school decision to TULANE and TEMPLE but I just can't seem to figure out which one's better. In my perspective, they both have the same amount of pros and cons, even if not similar! Which is why I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

Q: WHICH ONE IS BETTER in your opinion/experience? WHY?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Tough one. Both are good schools. IMO, Tulane edges out Temple for a few reasons. 1) Philadelphia vs. New Orleans. Personally, I’m not a fan of Philly and I find New Orleans a charming city…it’d be like a 4yr vacation. 2) If you’re at all into Public Health, Tulane wins hands-down. 3) I know Temple has a brand new building, but so does Tulane. Also, I think Tulane is pretty cutting edge with their SimCenter.

Can’t go wrong either way. Neither is public, so they’re both going to be costly. To me, it boils down to Would I be happier with 4yrs in Philly or 4 yrs in New Orleans? Both are in rough cities, so you’ll see a lot. Again, Tulane might edge Temple out as far as hands-on experience. Granted, I don’t know the difference between the curriculum, but I’d go with one that’s truly P/F (not HP/P/S/F or whatever).

Good luck deciding!

I dont know why so many people dont know this, but Temple is public.

Are you sure? Straight from their website: “Temple is a private, state-related medical school and welcomes applications from non-residents of Pennsylvania.”

Louisiana native here so I am biased. Tulane is an amazing school. When the president attended last fall’s Open House for high school students, announced his personal email and invited students to email him, that spoke a lot to us. For pre-med, with all the post-Katrina investments and research, Tulane med center, study and research abroad opportunities, and incredible city of New Orleans with Tulane in the heart of the most beautiful part of the City, the expansive Audubon Park and streetcars at your front door … Tulane offers a very special atmosphere and a world class education. We know young doctors, lawyers, bankers and entrepreneurs who attended Tulane. All say today that they would do it again. Like every city, there are “bad” parts of town, just steer clear of them. The campus and nearby neighborhoods are safe.

Well I go to Temple, so I think I would know.

Key phrase is “state-related”:
