I honestly just needs some advice which would be better for premed or just in general.Thanx!

Tell us what you think you want in a school and its environment. Tell us your stats. Finally, is there a financial difference between attending one or the other? If so, does that matter? Then we can give more meaningful advice.

If you map quest my house to Tulane its 15 minutes away. I’m just constantly in or around Tulane. The fact that I’m so close to it has its obvious advantages like Im familiar with the area, Im used to the weather, and its close to family. But, at the same I’m afraid I’ll get their and it’ll be to much the same .As for Boston, I really do like it. Theirs so much to explore there…It’s just really far and cold. Also its bigger than Tulane size wise, which I dont really mind…I’m just worried about class sizes. I’d be going into the college of arts and sciences(pre-med).Financially there is no difference I’d have to pay about the same price for both schools. I guess what I’m trying to ask is “which one would academically be a better decision for me?”“which one would prepare better for MCAT and Med school?”

OK, that is useful info. The last question about the academics: Tulane is a stronger school overall academically, in my opinion. But we aren’t talking about a huge difference here. Especially, as far as pre-med preparation, you won’t find much difference in most schools. Pre-med consists simply of 4 semesters of chemistry, a couple of bio courses, physics, math and the English course most schools require anyway. Pretty basic courses overall. Both schools will have advising and prep help.

I think the thing to look at is what would provide the best experience for you overall. I personally believe that taking the opportunuty college offers to live away from home, experience a different lifestyle, and really be out on your own is very valuable. If you were my child and had these choices, as much as I love Tulane I would tell you to go to Boston. It is a great city, especially for undergrads, and it is just a bit more than 15 minutes from your home. College is about more than getting ready for med school, and both schools can do that for you anyway. In fact, to the extent that living away from home helps one mature much faster, I could make an argument that BU will help you more in preparation for your career and life.
