I got into an Ivy but was denied from Tulane… this is clearly screwed up. It’s fine though because it was my safety and wasn’t gonna go anyways
@oneandones, That’s exactly what the admissions committee was trying to achieve: admitting enthusiastic students and not admitting people who look at the school as a safety. That would be bad for the student and bad for fellow students who are excited to be there. Thus it looks like the arrangement has worked out for everybody: some other student gets the offer you would have refused, you get your Ivy, and the school gets higher morale. These days there are plenty of excellent students to go around, so Tulane can have quite a good class even if it limits admission to students who are clearly enthusiastic about going. Congrats on the Ivy in any event!
Tulanes acceptance rate was 21% this year according to my admissions councilor. The incoming class is around 1700 and since there was around 37,000 applicants only 8k or so got accepted, but that does not mean they all are going to commit. To finalize my statement tulane didnt mess up on accepting people @SetAnExample
