TULANE RD 2021

Did you just find out you were waitlisted, @JesusJueves? Did they send you an email to check your portal?

Waiting in Dripping Springs, TX (outside of Austin)

Waiting in IL. Everyone I know except for three have been waitlisted at my school. No idea what this means but its driving me crazy.

Still haven’t heard anything :frowning: (from TX)

There are still acceptances going out, a friend of mine received her acceptance yesterday, so don’t be discouraged just because you haven’t heard back! Best of luck everyone!

@anicole45 Did you change your mind about Rice or are you just wanting to know the answer?

I still haven’t heard anything either :frowning:
I’m from CA and my admissions counselor is Jill deRosas.

@mnemom Yeah, got a notification email this morning.

just got an update but too scared to open…

Daughter was denied after being deferred EA. 33 ACT, 4.06 GPA.

WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD ANYTHING

From SC FINALLY got my rejection! WOOOO omg I’m so glad this is over

Just got the email. I was rejected. Too bad. It seems like a great school and I love NOLA. I wish they hadn’t dragged this process out this long though. Like if they were gonna reject me why couldn’t they have done it like a month ago. Smh.

Was this the first year Tulane distributed free application/solicitation letters ?

I’m hoping I can provide some insight here. Looking at Tulane’s ZeeMee acceptance group, it appears as though they have once again over enrolled, which in turn probably resulted in these difficult decisions. On this site alone, over 1,700 people have been accepted, and I’m certain there are tons of other students accepted as well.
Clearly this process was very frustrating, but you shouldn’t let the outcome define you, or the prospects for future applicants. Schools go through times such as this, we just so happened be caught in the middle of it. The school is fantastic, but had an unfortunate application season. Hopefully they will improve greatly next year, based on feedback from current applicants.
It’s also important to note that, even though you may not have received the decision you expected, perhaps this was just not where you were meant to end up. The world (and God) work in mysterious ways. Take this as a learning process (you have learned more about yourselves and then some). Based on what I’ve read on these threads, you are all exceptional students and will be successful no matter where you attend college. Your college experience is what you choose to make of it…don’t mess it up.

Rejected with guaranteed transfer? Lol bye Tulane !!

Rejected, 32 ACT 4.8 WGPA, didn’t write the optional supplement. Portal updated at 8:04PM, no email. I’m not torn up by the decision, it allows me to move on with other colleges and didn’t cost me anything.

Please help me understand. My son received an invitation to apply in the email with what I thought was a no-fee code. I thought it was based upon his SAT scores and SAT profile. He was planning to apply anyway, and I would have been happy to pay an application fee. Now, I understand that Tulane does not charge anyone application fees. I’m assuming this is to keep numbers very high, for selectivity rates? But, if there has been an over-enrollment problem, why does the no-fee practice continue? My son applied EA, demonstrated a lot of interest, great academic record, resume, essays, etc., like so many others here…and he was waitlisted. I found this list of schools (link below) who accept Common App and charge no fees, and it seems to me that Tulane is one of the only ones with a very high naitonal ranking? Is this list accurate, and is this all a game? Expressed interest is important to TU, but they are willing to entertain applications from kids who just click on it to “throw their hat in,” with zero interest (clear to me if they choose to not complete the Tulane essays) ?. Meanwhile, the exorbitant numbers are blamed for delays, errors, etc.

This was a quote from a 2014 Forbes article.

“At Tulane, admissions director Faye Tydlaska says her school dropped its $45 fee in 2008 because it was already granting so many admissions waivers, including to all Louisiana applicants, and to anyone who asked. It realized only about half of applicants were paying and the money raised from the fees was negligible. “It was such a hindrance to students,” she says.”
