TULANE RD 2021

Tulane is the last I’m waiting for. I applied to 8 schools for Regular Decision. Out of them, I’ve gotten rejected from4 and waitlisted from 3. So far the only ones I’ve been accepted to are my safeties (which I did Early Action) and quite frankly, I don’t want to go to any of them. I honestly don’t know what I’ll do if I don’t get into Tulane, besides have another mental breakdown. I can’t handle another rejection or waitlist.

tulane is playing games… I’ve been rejected at 9 schools and waitlisted at 4 (2 acceptances) Tulane is my top choice. Like molly401 i can’t bear another reject/waitlist. hoping they release today or tomorrow, but i’m sure “by April 1” means April 1

I’m kind of in the same boat as you both, rejected at my top choice ED, waitlisted at another, got into two safeties but don’t exactly want to go to them. Really hoping it can work out with Tulane, but this is incredibly frustrating.

@molly401 im in literally the exact same situation omg i was rejected from 3 schools and waitlisted at 2, the other 3 i applied early action were my safeties and i was accepted but dont want to go at all! Still waiting on tulane

With the most recent blog post, I’m not too hopeful many acceptances are left. That post was more of a goodbye than a hello.

Honestly though, we haven’t heard from almost anyone who’s already been accepted, let alone in March. I think that any decision option could happen at this point for any of us. There’s no way we’re all rejected or waitlisted.

Can anyone find Tulane RD 2020 posts? Curious about what happened last year. Thx

My son got accepted by 3, no rejection and Tulane is the only one left. Funny he got into the first choice with their premier scholarship and all 1 full ride and another almost full ride. Tulane is the safety for him and he hasn’t heard. Lol.

If you take the time to do some research, you will find that about 68% of Tulane’s accepted students apply ED and EA. They accept about 38% of these students, while its overall acceptance rate is about 30%. So, while about 32% of acceptances come from the RD pool, the % of accepted RD students are much less than those accepted from the EA pool. I think that I have read that there have already been some RD acceptances. Throw in all those who have been deferred from EA to RD. There is still hope. You just need to be patient.

Last year they were released on the 25th. I called and she said “On or by April 1st”

Not to sensitive to tell everybody how their first choice is your kid’s safety. Just sayin’.

I hate to say it, but in the NYT article about their screw up with the ED acceptances this year, it mentioned that RD last year was only 7%. Ugh.

too sensitive, that is.

If you go onto facebook and search “Tulane University class of 2021” there’s a group that has almost 2500 people in it. How many people in total are they going to accept?

Does Tulane have a certain time of day they like to release their results?

@gre3se. Tulane 's freshman class will be about 2100 students. Only about 15-18% of those admitted actually enroll. The university probably accepts about 12000 students/yr. The fb site is for accepted students, not for only accepted students who commit to enroll. From the nola website (a few years old), “Tulane admits roughly one of four applicants. But of the 11,371 students Tulane accepted this year, only about 1,700, or 15 percent, will attend.”
@kslinky 7:30ET according to TulaneMaddie22 (I think)

On last years thread it seemed like they released all of the acceptances then all of the rejections and waitlists a few days later. It seems that there hasn’t been a huge wave of acceptances this month, so I think there is still hope.

Does anyone think that they’ll wait until the 1st?

@PCJazz Tulane’s incoming freshman class cannot be 2,100. I believe this is why Tulane is being very deliberate in not issuing more acceptances until they have a better handle on the yield of the incoming class. They need to be careful not to over enroll again. Tulane’s class size last year was about 1800, which was the largest freshman class ever. They overenrolled by a lot because of the increased popularity of the school leading to the much higher than expected yield–between 20% and 25%, not 15%, which is an outdated figure from the website you referenced. The year before last also had a large freshman class, in the 1700 range. Is it coincidence that the higher yields and over enrollment come at a time when Tulane’s ranking has risen in the US News & World Report college publication to #41 (in 2016 edition) and then to #39 (in the 2017 edition) in the National Universities category? I know a lot of people scoff at these rankings and take them with a grain of salt, but the rankings are out there nonetheless and there are some high school students, parents and guidance counselors who undoubtedly look at the list for help in drawing up their college application lists. Historically the incoming freshman class size has been about 1,600 to 1,700. Tulane does not have enough dorm space to accommodate a freshman class of 2,100 without requiring a lot of tripling up.

@trackmbe3 OK, sp I was off by a bit. Except for the sentence that I quoted, I was estimating. goe3se seemed to be concerned about the # of students who signed up for the FB page. My post was in response to that, and an attempt to give him/her hope and put things in perspective.

But thanks for setting me straight.
