Tulane RD Thread Class of 2022

Just waiting to hear back from Vanderbilt and Tulane, accepted to Wisconsin, Minnesota, Temple, Arizona, Arizona State, and U of Denver.

do we think the regular decision pool is gonna be competitive? how many more spots do we think there are because I feel like so many people apply to Tulane and majority of them don’t even end up going which frees up so much space for regular decision applicants. I hope this is the case

@glaze0430, Approximately 7% of Tulane’s freshman class was admitted RD last year. The yield for the entire class was 26%. (35,000 apps * 21% = 7350 admitted. 1905 enrolled, so 1905/7350 = 26%). Hope that helps!!

Congratulations! @WiscoRunner

@NJDad68 Seems like RD is more competitive than I previously calculated  more nervous

I put down on my application to minor in psychology but my AP Psych grade this year is kinda sucky. Will this affect my chance of admissions at all and if so should I change it?

@glaze0430 You have already sent in your application and transcript, so your grades for your current semester will not be factored into the admissions process. When you are accepted, that’s when you send in all of your senior year grades. By then you will already be accepted so you are all good

Also, I’m guesstimating here, but almost 50% of Tulane students will change their mind regarding majors and minors. The majors and minors you put down are for their estimating purposes (how big of a classroom do I need for the fall classes, how many sections of psych do we need to open). What you pick as your majors and minors on your application have minimal effect on your application package in general.

I applied RD and found out that I got accepted today. Also got the Founders Award.

@catpuccino congrats!! Did you find out with email/portal or both?

A friend sent me news of her acceptance, so I checked the portal and found out I got in too. Later I checked my email and there was one from Tulane, saying an “important update” was made to my portal.

I was deferred EA so I’m in the RD pool now. 32 ACT and 4.89 GPA. Been accepted to UNC, UVA, Vanderbilt, and Emory since. Tulane might be off my list unless I get the Communty Service Fellowship Scholarship. I thought my stats would be good enough for a reconsideration and an acceptance letter shortly after my deferral. I’ll wait until April to see.

@Pastpower If you were you accepted at Vanderbilt it had to be ED or ED2 since their RD decisions are not out yet and they don’t have EA. So aren’t you supposed to rescind your other applications anyways?

@EDHDAD According to @Pastpower’s other posts he was accepted via MOSIAC at Vanderbilt, a small group of RD students have already been notified of their acceptance through that.

@WiscoRunner Gotcha. Didn’t know about that program.

any chance it will be earlier than the 1st?

has anyone heard back RD?

not yet

I probed admissions today. There was a wave of regular decisions that went out this week. There will be one more wave of decisions. They will most likely be posted next week (perhaps not until the end of the week though). To answer everybody’s next question: according to the admissions employee I spoke with, the wave of decisions sent out included acceptances, waitlists, and denials. Thus that is not an indication of whether or not a lack of a decision thus far means a denial…

how are so many people finding out information when calling admissions. overtime I call all they say is “before April 1 thats all we can say”

that’s exactly what I was told also. I continued to probe.

@CanIgoback Did they say if the decisions were issued via the regular mail, or by emails and an updated portal?
