<p>I am currently on the waitlist at Tulane University, and am wondering if anyone out there knows when the earliest waitlisted applicants would be notified of a decision? I have been told perhaps as early as mid April, but I have also heard that we won't be contacted until after May 1st. Any advice or insight would be great.</p>

<p>As best I can recall in the past, some students started getting off the list towards the end of April. The pace picked up after May 1, as you might expect. But that was a year when there were a fair number invited from the list. Most years lately there haven’t been that many coming off the list, one year it was zero. If that is the case (a small number I mean, not zero) I would think that the invites wouldn’t come until after May 1. It just stands to reason. Not that reason is always the defining factor at any college when it comes to admissions, lol.</p>

<p>My son just got an email (TH April 17) asking if he wanted to stay on the wait list and to fill out a brief form (again) if he wanted to remain on it.

<p>Just for grins we decided to see if Tulane would ever contact DS about their waitlist, after all we still have never heard a word about being rejected for the DHS. So today, 25 days after logging into Gibson to find DS was waitlisted, we received an email informing him of this and asking if he wanted to remain on the list. Gee thanks Tulane, nice to know you’re thinking of him.</p>
<p>Does anyone know why the admissions office was closed until tomorrow. My son sent an email to his counselor and it was an auto reply that the office would re open on 4/21. </p>

<p>@Conniesdaughter - Just for some historical perspective, Tulane used to not have a spring break. When I was there we got the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Mardi Gras and then Good Friday and Easter Monday 6 weeks later. They added a normal Spring Break, chopped off the Wednesday for the Mardi Gras break, but kept the traditional Easter Break. Sometimes when Mardi Gras is very late or Easter is very early it overlaps with the Spring Break.</p>

Has anyone heard news from counselors if the wait list may open earlier than 5/1?
Additionally, is anyone on the wait list ever offered merit money? </p>
<p>@Conniesdaughter - I don’t know about any timing on the wait list, although i would be surprised if they waited until May 1 to make any offers at all, assuming they have to go to the wait list this year. I have heard of people coming off the wait list getting merit money in the past. I don’t know how common it is.</p>
<p>OT a bit but related to Easter- do the dorms close for Easter/Spring break in years when the two coincide? The next two years Spring break is over Easter…</p>
<p>I am nearly positive Tulane only closes dorms during Winter Break and in the summers. Of course Bruff stops, and I think there are no janitorial and cleaning services during that week. But you can stay in your dorm.</p>
<p>When did the wait list open last year and is there any indication if the yield is filling the class this year?</p>
<p>Not positive on the first but I think about now. No way to know about the second, admissions holds that kind of information pretty closely, as they should.</p>
