Is it true that we are restricted from watching streaming videos?

Is it also true that online gaming is completely forbidden?

Finally, does PJ's coffee have free WiFi?

Thanks, if anyone can respond...

OK, I might not be totally correct on terminology, so forgive me if I am screwing this up. My D watched YouTube videos and followed her favorite TV show using the Tulane WiFi. Does that count as streaming video?

I would be shocked if online gaming is forbidden, just because I would think there would be a revolt. But then again, I have no idea what kind of burden that would place on the system, so I hope a current student can answer. My D doesn’t do online games.

Don’t know about PJ’s, I will ask her when she gets home.

Thank you :)

theres Wifi in Pj’s as well as everywhere else on campus

The Wifi is available all over campus, however sometimes it will go out for a bit. I also know in some sophomore dorms it’s unavailable, but for the most part it works. I also know it doesn’t block you from watching streaming videos, and the online gaming is also totally doable. Using Limewire (and other similar music downloading programs–but not ALL) however WILL temporarily shut down your IP address’ internet connection if you use it once, and if you use it again they completely block the IP address from the network.

Wifi on campus usually seems kinda slow and can be unreliable. But the dorms(at least Butler) have internet plug-ins on the wall, which work much better, so you should bring a cable just in case. Pj’s on willow also has a computer lab.

lazydog, just to be clear for those that might not know computers so well, that is an ethernet cable, right? Probably about 4 to 6 feet?

yup, just a normal ethernet cable

Can I use frostwire if i go through an ethernet cable?
