We are confused about the status of wireless internet in Monroe. Specifically we wonder if we need to buy a router and why the university lists an ethernet cord as mandatory. My daughter's room faces the city, not campus, if that makes a difference. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wireless is available in Monroe, although it can be spotty.

Bring the cord, skip the router.

(Bring a long cord as both internet jacks are on one side of the room.)

One way S1 solved the Ethernet cable problem at another school was to purchase an Apple Airport Express. It is small and easy to set-up. Once the Ethernet cable is plugged into it others can wirelessly share the connection (if provided the password). Further, plug a stereo into it and one can wirelessly stream music from iTunes on a computer, and by plugging in the printer’s USB cable everyone can print wirelessly as well.

(He has a similar set up now in his apartment, but now uses the Apple Rmote App to control everything from his iPad.)

On a slightly different topic, how is wireless connectivity in Sharp?
