Turned down ___ for Vassar (Class of '19 Edition)

So where’d you guys turn down for Vassar, and why?

@LACexpert2 Holy Cross, Tulane, Dickinson and Trinity.

My friend turned down Princeton and Amherst for Vassar. I highly encouraged the decision because she would make a far better fit for Vassar than for those schools. She wants to study English, modern languages, and theater, and has no interests in the financial world (more into academia, if anything), so she thought it would confer her nil benefits in terms of ‘prestige’ or whatever by going to Princeton. My school’s guidance counselor was furious, to say the least, almost implying that she was an idiot to go to Vassar over Pton. Oh well.

@international95 - Fit HAS to be considered. Sounds like your friend made the right decision based on her interests and that the guidance counselor needs to rediscover what it means to counsel. Princeton is amazing obviously, but for various reasons, it isn’t for everyone even if they get in.

My friend turned down Miami University of Ohio, University of Maryland and Hampshire College for Vassar.
