Turning down Syracuse?

This may be a silly question, but I'm turning down Syracuse and would like to know if you can do so online. I've noticed a small box which you can check on the Intent to Register Form saying "Check here if you do not plan to attend Syracuse University" where right below they ask for your future plans. Now just like the other colleges ask for signature, this form does too but then it says that the applicant "agrees to pay...all fees and charges." So am I confused as to what boxes I should check and which lines I should sign.

QNYergrl, where are you going next year? I know that you were interested in Sport Management, I too am turning down Syracuse SM. Are you going to a school to get a SM degree, or a business degree?

Anyways, I have the same question, although I haven't gotten around to searching through my schools stuff to decline their admission, lol.

two people who are turning down syracuse. im depressed.

I live in Michigan. I don't want to go somewhere colder and snowier than here for school. That's hell for me.

And their programs, overall peer assessment rating, aren't suited for me. That is all. It's just not the school for me.

Hey A2Wolves, I'll be going to Northeastern this fall. I'll actually be majoring in political science and may double-major in journalism. I've always liked journalism probably more than business; less money but less stress.

If I had gotten into the Newhouse School (my 1st choice in my application), I'd probably definitely be going. But like A2Wolves, their ratings in other departments may not be worth the steep cost. I'm basically going to Northeastern because of their co-op/paid internship program, urban location of campus and a scholarship almost double of what Syracuse gave me.

I looked through my entire admissions, housing, everything, and I can't find the "decline the admission" letter. Every other college gave be an envelope, a little slip, but no, not Syracuse.

A2Wolves6, there is a form where you simply check either accept or decline and mail it in.

That's funny because I turned down Northeastern because they gave me no finaid and I'm not really crazy about Boston. It gets me thinking that ultimately, how much we pay is the real factor of going to a certain college. Anyone else feel the same way?

taxguy - where can I find that form?

This wasn't the exact case for me, but it was a big factor. I think you're right though. Most of my friends' decisions were heavily based on their financial aid packages. I think the time we decide which colleges we like is when we're applying. When we get our acceptances, it's usually the financial aid that brings one school over the top.

A2Wolves6,it came to use with the acceptance package that Syracuse sent us.If you can't find your form, simply send them a nice letter of rejection.

My daughter sent a letter such as this:

Director of Admission to Syracuse
Address

I was admitted to the School of Visual and Performing Arts for the fall 2006 semester. I really felt that Syracuse would have been a fine choioce for me. I , however, have received far too many acceptances and offers of scholarships for me to accept. Accordingly, I will not be matriculating at Syracuse. Thank you for consideration in this matter.

I wish you all well in your future endeavors

Signed,
My daughter

(Note this was a takeoff of a typical rejection letter that colleges send out)

Thanks, i'll write the letter to them. I think it's a nice way of declining, because some of these schools I may want to transfer to or go to grad school, and also I can tell them why i'm not coming as well.

A2Wolves, you are so right. You don't want to tick these schools off. You never know when you want to go there for grad or professional school.

no theres a check on the letter of admit that they send u once you get in. i swear. i saw it and screamed. how dare they even give me the option of checking it.

Well, for those of us who don't plan on going to SU, when we check it and send it in that probably helps get waitlisted people admitted quicker. I didn't notice the checkbox either so I guess I'll have to go send that in tomorrow.

sigh....

sigh OK so I'm desperate. Does anyone who turned down Syracuse U happen to still have the housing/meal form that you're supposed to mail in with the Intent To Register Form? I think it's white and blue.... (?) If anyone can scan it and e-mail me it (faline@gmail.com)...I will...give you five dollas.... ;D

Someone please help me! <:x

phew! nvm i finally found it. o.o

you're nuts, Faleene

It hurt A LOT, but I finally had to turn down Syracuse. I'll keep it in mind as a transfer school, though, in case Tulane doesn't work out. Damn, I really wanted to go to Syracuse.

Thank you. <3
