Tutoring business?

I have been thinking of making one recently, but I am just afraid it would be “too plain”, but I feel it would be a good business idea for me to pursue. Does anyone know any ways to “spice up” are add on to my business to make it more unique and attractive to my target audience (grades K-9)?

Thanks!

I’ve been tutoring for a year now and squeezed in just as many clients as I had time for each week. It’s really easy to get clients because you will get recognition through word of mouth–you already have a big appeal as someone charging ~$20/hr when most adults charge around $60. Reputation helps; I was known as a “smart kid” at school, so my name got picked a lot off of my school’s peer tutoring list. Ask if your school, and the schools you are targeting, has a peer tutoring list, promote yourself on twitter, and you should get tons of clients. That being said, not sure why you’d want to target K-9–the real money is in hs students.

If you’re going for the “business” aspect to try and impress colleges, though, I can’t help you there, but I made enough money tutoring for a few months or so to save up for a senior trip to a foreign country with my friends, so that’s what mattered to me.
