Tutoring

Is it plausible for a next-year senior HS student to find an internship doing math tutoring? I don't know if any companies would take me under because I don't have a degree or anything, but I think that would be a nice summer job.

I doubt a real professional company like Sylvan Learning Center would hire me, so what are some other options?

Thanks.

You could try your local library. In my area, the public library has various volunteer opportunities for youth. I think one of the choices for senior high school students is helping elementary students with different subjects (math, science, etc.) You could also speak with your math teacher, or past math teachers, to see if they know any students that need help with math.

if you're smart and ambitious they might. try something simpler to start. perhaps find a tutoring place that tutors middle school kids or incoming high school frehsmen or maybe even elementary kids. i'm sure you can handle that job. i'm not sure if SCORE! centers fit into this category, but check it out to see. it wouldn't really be considered an internship...it's more like a job. but do go research tutoring centers you have in your community and talk to them quick, take the initiative to walk in and ask if you could set up and interview and that you're really interested and capable. summer's rolling around and i'm sure there's a tutoring center that would like or would need another math tutor, since tons of kids use math tutoring.

Thanks for these suggestions! Excellent ideas. :)
