Two BAs to choose from

There will be no BFA program for me come September. But I have made peace with that. I just wanted a little bit of advice on the options I do have.

I was excepted to the University of New Hampshire which has a BA in theatre with an MT concentration(no audition). I know UNH has a very strong music program but I know nothing of the strength of their theatre department. I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about it.

And then there is Pace. I was accepted academically and am almost positive that they offer anyone who did not get accepted to the MT program a place in their BA in theatre arts. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

What are the pros and the cons? I'm having trouble deciding between the two. The biggest trouble comes from representatives making them sound so good. I need an outsiders perspective.

I'm not sure that Pace automatically offers a place in the BA program to rejected MT applicants, but New York City has so many training opportunities that you can take advantage of, so that is worth thinking about. I have six schools to hear from still, but based on the responses I've had, I might be in a similar boat.

I would go to both websites and read the classes in each BA. I don't know about UNH but I thought that Pace had a fairly rigourous BA program.

You also need to look at campus life. Would you be happiest at a more rural school or at an urban school? Cost can aslo be a consideration.

But I also agree with BohemaKJ... all things being equal, you can't beat being so close to the action!!!

One more thing to think about: if you go to Pace, and decide to re-audition next year for the MT program, you may have an advantage in already attending the school. It's possible that as a BA student, you may be able to meet and work with some of the BFA MT faculty. You should check with the school to see how much interaction there is between the two programs.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. I've been talking to my parents alot about where I should go. I really did love Pace when I was there, and the more I think about it the more I'd love to go there.

UNH is also an amazing school with a beautiful campus but I don't know if my hearts fully into going there.
