Two B's, too bad?

will 2 Bs and 5 As in my senior year hurt me? my GPA is 3.8uw and in the top 5%, but im afraid i might slightly slip out of that to about 6%… will that hurt me a lot at places like amherst, pomona, rice, chicago, dartmouth, carleton, ups, grinnell, wash u, wesleyan u?

I think you're fine, it might hurt for chicago, dartmouth and rice? What classes do you have a B in?

Honestly, I'd worry a little--but only a little. So many more factors are likely to influence the outcome. If you haven't submitted all your apps yet, worry about polishing your essays.

The Bs are in AP Biology(grrrrr.....88%) and AP communication arts IV(AP lit/comp).

not really if you already sent you app, although midterms matter a whole lot for elite schools

sooooooooo.......im screwed or not? i thought schools like amherst, rice, dartmouth, pomona, chicago were "elite schools"?

I'm wondering the same thing. I may get 0, 1, 2 or possibly even 3 Bs. My GPA is 3.93UW, 4.67W, I hope it doesn't matter too much. :o

"Elite" does not mean "4.0uw". Get over it. Obviously, the higher the better. But so many other things count, too, that a couple of B's are down in the noise.
Worry about things that are still within your power to change. Otherwise you risk being used as a bad example in CC discussions.

Don't worry about it, especially if they are in AP classes. I got into BC honors program and Georgetown with a B freshman year, a B sophmore year, 4 B's junior year, and one 1st quarter senior year.

but they are still important. 'elite' means they are good schools...

My grades slipped some during my senior year and it didn't hurt me at all. But, I don't think NYU is quite as academic as those schools. Either way I don't think it will matter too much.
