Two different colleges

Hello, everybody. I'm going to a community college right now and I'm thinking about moving to another state. The place where I want to move has a community college there but my question is this: Does it matter where I take my community college classes?

I mean, I'm just going there to get my post-secondary education out of the way and a class is a class so I shouldn't think that where I take it really matters, right? Anyway, all opinions are welcome.

Doesn't matter, as long as you stay focused and do well.

It does matter - be sure your CC is accredited. That way your credits will be transferrable. Also, if you know where you want to go to finish your bachelors degree, ask them if they generally accept credits from your CC. I had a friend who went to CC, followed by Virginia Tech. When he went to talk to Va Tech, the admissions counselor was a bit wary and warned him that they might not take all his credits. When he told them where he was going the adcom relaxed and said, "Oh, no problem, we take all their credits, we deal with them frequently and know their standards."

The assumption is that the CC is accredited by one of the agencies. That, I assumed was clear. Perhaps, it was not.

In California, there are some CCs that have formal transfer arrangements with corresponding UC schools. CC students benefit from academic counseling that makes sure that all courses will transfer with credit, and are given transfer admissions preference.
You might want to check with the four-year colleges that you are thinking of transfering to and ask if they have similar relationships.

Hey thanks for everybody for the advice. You've been a big help.
