TWO Early Decisions?

Why in tarnation would Grinnell decide that they want two early decision deadlines, both of them binding, coupled with a late Regular Decision deadline? No Early Action, even . . . this will make it rather hard for me to be able to choose a school, since Grinnell's letter would come the latest. Is there some kind of logic to this that I just don't see?

Grinnell's regular decision notification date is the same as everybody else's -- April 1st. As for having two binding ED deadlines, I imagine that Grinnell is trying to increase its yield rate.

An admission rep told me they have 2 deadlines because some people are ready to make a decision as early as November but others aren't quite sure Grinnell is #1 until the second deadline.
If you apply for the first deadline and aren't admitted, you'll hear back in plenty of time to apply to other schools. If you apply for EDII, you'll probably want to submit other apps just in case - then withdraw them if you're admitted.
