So, in 7th and 8th grade, I took Algebra I and Geometry. I received two B's. Freshman, sophomore, and junior years, I received all A's. My UW GPA is, according to my high schools transcript, a 3.93; however, I was wondering whether or not some schools would drop the two B's in a recalculation of my GPA, considering they were from middle school.

I understand that the difference between 3.93 and 4.0 is negligible, but I'm just a tad curious about the whole recalculation process.

(I didn't want to piggy-back the thread about GPA recalculation w/ freshman year grades, so I started my own.)

I’m in the same situation (except my problem is a bad regents grade in middle school Algebra I). Even though you took the classes in middle school, they are high school classes and count for high school credits (which was why you didn’t have to take them again in high school), so, to the best of my knowledge, they can’t be dropped.

I know they can’t be dropped, but I was wondering if colleges (if/when they recalculate candidate’s GPA’s, like Princeton does) would drop those middle school courses

Some do. I know Carnegie Melon drops all of your MS and 9th grade classes, as well as your electives and calculates a new GPA. I’d heard some others do this as well. I assume each college is different, just as each HS is. Strawberry3: you might be able to take your Algebra Regents again. We have a friend that retook it after she took Algebra2 and did much better.
