I am a high school senior in India, applying Early Decision to Johns Hopkins. One of my classmates is also applying Early Decision to Hopkins. She told me that she asked the Hopkins regional admissions officer who came to visit our school whether they take only one student per school or region, and supposedly they said yes. Is this true?
If you both are academically qualified and they want you both then they will accept you. Two kids from my school got into Brown ED
That’s exactly what I was thinking.
Schools all want a diverse class and to the extent you and your schoolmate look the same on paper (Indian women with interest in xyz), you are competing with each other for places in the pool (s) you fit. But I seriously doubt that it would matter if you were from the same school if you are among the best of a “type” JHU wishes to enroll. There are plenty of high schools in the U.S. who have multiple acceptances at top universities.
Good luck!
India is a big country and adcoms may want to offer admission to kids from various areas. Your best bet is to understand what JHU wants. International admissions is different than for US high schools. And if there are already many students from India enrolled, it can affect the total the college will take. They may want their diversity to round out numbers from other nearby countries.
Best wishes.
Luckily, I understand what JHU wants
Two kids from our high school both got in Hopkins ED. Exactly the same on paper and very similar in ECs.
Well the girl who was going to ED to Hopkins decided to ED to UMiami instead.
