I got admitted yesterday, excited but haven’t decided for sure if I’m going there.

For anyone a student already, can someone explain to me a typical physical fitness session and what it’s like? Running every day? Strength training everyday? Or does it alternate?

Just would like to know how to start training, especially since USAFA is 7000 ft above sea level.

Outside of BCT there is not a mandatory daily workout. For freshmen, there are generally a couple PT sessions per week, run by upperclassmen. Depending on the squadron, this is usually some sort of combination of PT, motivational gut check, and stress test. I would recommend being able to do 3-5 mile runs at a good pace (shoot for 8min miles or better, and things get way easier). Additionally, be able to do push-ups, sit-ups, and flutter kicks. Eight or 10 count body-builders are also common.

The official graded tests are a 1.5 mile run, called the AFT, and the PFT which consists of pull-ups, a standing long-jump, sit-ups, push-ups, and a 600yd run.

Thank you! Is it really hard to run the first couple weeks?

How difficult the running is during the first couple of weeks will depend on how much running you do before you get to USAFA and at what altitude.
